Michael: Marcus North would be a good appointment for England's new selector

My fundamental belief is that if the new selector is Marcus North, as it looks like it will be, I think he's a good appointment.

He's been here in the UK for a long period of time. I think he was director of South Shields Cricket Club, where he developed a great local club and an indoor school. He played county cricket for six counties, so he knows county cricket inside out.

He's been a director of cricket at Durham and done pretty well, despite them being relegated last year. He's a good operator.

He's close to Ben Stokes, which is obviously a good relationship to have. I think he'll do some good work for English cricket.

David: The Chairman of selectors job is to provide the players for the immediate England Team

The chairman of selectors' job is selecting the here and now, where nine of the players pick themselves and you're really only talking about two spots. His job is to provide the players for the immediate England team.

Below that, you need some people who will be looking five years in advance. You're looking at your pathway academies and your scouts, particularly for the under-19 players.

I would be very interested in Joe Moores at Lancs, who was a gun player for the U19s, (Naavya) Sharma at Middlesex, I saw him this week and he looked fine.

Michael: It is time for Zak Crawley to drop down the batting order

Zak Crawley has opened the batting in red-ball cricket now for a period of time. He's obviously opened for England, had a little bit of success, but he's had a lot of failures as well. He's not had a great start to the summer for Kent, but he continues to open.

At this stage of his career, is it worth him going, 'Why don't I just bat five for Kent?' He's going to be a very good white-ball opener. He's done well in the leagues and he strikes the ball. Why not bat at five?

He plays spin well, and he can hit through the line.

It might just give him something different, so he can look forward to going out to face the music every now and again.

Michael: The Women's T20 World Cup has gone completely under the radar because of lack of advertisement

I heard Alex Hartley say the other day, and I agree with her, that unless you were in cricket or a cricketing family, you would not know that the Women's T20 World Cup was taking place in this country. I've seen nothing, anywhere, no advertisement.

I've seen a lot about the India versus England Lord's Test Match, which I think has record ticket sales, and that will be an amazing event. But this World Cup has gone completely under the radar.
