Quetta Gladiators v Multan Sultans team news
A win for Quetta puts them in the all-important top-two and condemning Multan to the play-offs. After a fast start they had a dreadful wobble but success last time out against Lahore got them back on track.
They've had issues in the middle order but Laurie Evans replacing Sarafraz should be seen as a major upgrade.
Possible XI: Roy, Shakeel, Rossouw, Nafay, Evans, Wasim, Omair, Akeal, Amir, Abrar, Sohail
Sultans must be wondering how it has come down to needing a win in their last game to confirm an easier route to the final. They were coasting. Two straight losses checked their progress.
They failed to defend 228 against Islamabad using only five bowlers. Iftikhar Ahmed should have been tried to stem the flow. Johnson Charles has joined for the denouement.
Possible XI: Rizwan, Yasir, Usman, Charles, Iftikhar, Tayyab, Jordan, Willey, Usama, Abbas, Ali
Quetta Gladiators v Multan Sultans pitch report
Three from six this term at Karachi have meant unders on a tissue par line of 165.5 were winners. Zalmi, who are fast scorers, laboured to 147 versus Kings on Monday and defended. It would bust ground and team run rates were Quetta to go overs on a par line in the late 160s.
Multan are 1.705/7 favourites. This is the price one would expect given Quetta's form over the season.
In the previous head-to-head Sultans defended 180 with ease and it may be that Sultans overpower their rivals.
Still, Zalmi were supposed to bully Kings and they didn't manage it. There's a possibility that a tired surface brings these two closer together.
Our strategy for the Zalmi game was a play on the favourites in-game. If Sultans get up to 1.9010/11 in the first dig we'll go in.
Mohammad Rizwan's solitary win on the top bats is the biggest shock of the tournament. But he remains value at the boosted 5/23.50 on win rate in the last three tournaments. His form hasn't been too shabby. For Quetta Mohammad Wasim batted at No 6 as they looked for quick runs. They could experiment with him again so 33/134.00 has appeal. Laurie Evans looks overpriced at 9/110.00 considering we're confident he bats at No 5.
