Multan Sultans didn't know what hit them in a rain-affected clash against Lahore on Good Friday. In a 13-over dash they conceded an extraordinary 185. It perfectly illustrated the folly of being a one-dimensional team.
Sultans put all their Easter eggs in one basket by loading up on batting talent. And there is a lot to like about a line-up which pairs Sahib Farhan and Steve Smith as the opening duo, followed by Josh Phillippe, Shan Masood and Ashton Turner. But it comes at the expense of balance and bowlers who are up to the task.
They actually made a decent fist of the 14.35 an over chase but they don't boast a single bowler of international repute. When Peter Siddle at 41 is your attack leader something has gone badly wrong with recruitment.
With that in mind Sportsbook's total Quetta match runs at 176.5 looks cheap. The go-slow on the Lahore tracks just hasn't materialised as of yet so with Multan's bowling profligacy difficult to solve it could be an easy win. The odds-against on the match odds doesn't look fair on Quetta, either, given they can compete with bat and ball.
It may also be time to consider Steve Smith for a top-bat win at 12/53.40. He has settled in well and is very much in the zone for a big score.

Rawalpindi Pindiz v Islamabad United PSL Tips
Islamabad United produced one of the best performances of the season on Thursday by trouncing Quetta Gladiators. It perhaps signals a return to form for a franchise which had been in the doldrums following their horrible collapse from top dogs last season to one which didn't even make the final.
It was a near-perfect performance from United. With the ball they restricted Quetta to 183 and were flexible in their approach. They kept Imad Wasim back knowing he would be less effective against three left-handers in the top three. Shadab Khan was the star with three wickets and then helped himself to an unbeaten 69 as they chased with ten balls to spare.
Pindiz had only played once before their match versus Karachi on Thursday. It seems a little unfair they come up against a United side who are beginning to find their groove, particularly after they were well beaten by Kings. The old Sultans franchise have had significant churn so are still feeling their way into things. Despite posting 214 in defeat by Zalmi, there are worries that the top order might not be explosive enough. This was proved correct against Kings. They just didn't go quick enough and were blown out of the water.
We've been waiting on a decent turn from Mohammad Amir, the Pindiz pacer. He can have slow starts in this tournament but it might be time to play overs on the performance line at 20.5. Betting class act to have a moderate game is a fair strategy and the quote is cheap by an even-money record in the last ten. He is 6/52.20.

Lahore Qalandars v Multan Sultans PSL Tips
There is often one team which implodes in a PSL season. Last term it was Islamabad United. Could it be the turn (again) of Lahore Qalandars?
The much-fancied outfit started the season well with a win over Hyderabad Kingsmen (although that success' value is decreasing by the day) but since then they have hit the self-destruct button with an extraordinary array of ill-discipline.
Fakhar Zaman has been banned for two matches for tampering with the ball in a low-scoring loss to Karachi Kings. In-game Lahore had been penalised five runs for the offence which probably made all the difference to the result. Fakhar's blitzing at the top of the order will be sorely missed.
There may be further disciplinary action after Shaheen Afridi and Sikandar Raza broke security protocol by 'forcibly' escoting friends to a hotel room.
Lahore are no strangers to erratic behaviour. They won three of their last four last season to squeeze into the play-offs after an awful start. And then lifted the title. In 2024 they won one in ten.
Sultans, having played just once, may be confident of taking advantage. They have won two from two and it is a surprise to see them rated as the outsiders. Unashamedly a batting team they chased with aplomb against Hyderabad and also got up to 172 with eight balls left against Islamabad.
It's no secret they are loaded up top with Steve Smith and Sahib Farhan, a ton versus HK, the best opening pair in the competition. A powerplay blitz could quickly demoralise Lahore if the camp is in a funk.
