Lucknow Super Giants v Delhi Capitals team news
Lucknow could make improvements despite a solid start. Dev Padikkal is on a bad trot so Prerak Mankad or Deepak Hooda could be in contention. Mankad can consider himself unfortunate considering a record which is busting well over the mean for strike rate and average.
Possible XI: De Kock, Rahul, Mankad, Stoinis/Siddharth (subs), Pooran, Badoni, Krunal, Bishnoi, Naveen, Yash Thakur, Mayank
Delhi have made changes with Lalit Yadav coming into the XI and Jhye Richardson adding bowling depth. The removal of Mitch Marsh is sound. But they still look a poor side and Anrich Nortje's economy at the death has more than doubled.
Possible XI: Warner, Shaw, Porel, Stubbs, Pant, Axar, Lalit, Kushagra/Khaleel (subs), Richardson, Nortje, Ishant
Lucknow Super Giants v Delhi Capitals pitch report
Four times in eight IPL matches (and one T20i) before this season there have been first-innings scores under 140. After runs in game one the venue may have settled back to the trend - as witnessed by Lucknow's 163 being more than enough against Gujarat. An unders mark of 166.5 may still be a touch high.
Lucknow are 1.768/11 with Delhi 2.3811/8. We rate Lucknow a solid and reliable side. Delhi are imbalanced and chaotic.
And yet they may have a sniff here. That's thanks to a Lucknow surface which could cover all manner of their bowling sins. They desperately need a wicket which gives them assistance.
Their batters, too, may not mind it. The likes of David Warner may be quite happy to pootle along at 130-odd.
Lucknow's collective strike rate in the powerplay is 129. Delhi's is 140. That's a pretty chunky edge in favour of the Capitals.
That suggests a trade strategy on Delhi bowling first. They could well shorten up significantly in the first six - a lot like Gujarat did against Rajasthan on Wednesday.
Lucknow Super Giants v Delhi Capitals player bets
If Mankad plays for LSG he could well reprise his No 3 role so the 12/113.00 with Sportsbook for top team bat is chunky. We also like Krunal Pandya back out to 19/120.00. On a slow surface 30-odd could be enough. To that end Warmer could be the call with that win rate at 43% although we await a boost from 13/53.60.
