Lucknow Super Giants v Chennai Super Kings team news
Mayank Yadav may well be fit to return for Super Kings and goodness knows they need him. His ability to break an innings has been badly missed with two defeats on the spin. The batting has not been firing, either with KL Rahul not getting the runs of previous easons.
Possible XI: De Kock, Rahul, Hooda, Badoni, Pooran, Stoinis, Krunal, Bishnoi, Yash, Mayank/Arshad (subs), Joesph
Chennai have confirmed that Devon Conway is out for the season. They have added Richard Gleeson to the roster but he's unlikely to break into a 12 which has won the last two and four of the last six.
Possible XI: Rahane/Pathirana (subs), Ravindra, Gaikwad, Dube, Mitchell, Rizvi, Jadeja, Dhoni, Thakur, Deshpande, Rahmann
Lucknow Super Giants v Chennai Super Kings pitch report
Four times in eight IPL matches (and one T20i) before this season there have been first-innings scores under 140. This year there have been scores of 199, 163 and 167. The surface is likely to be getting slower and with two sides expert at operating on such surfaces an unders play on the par line at 172.5. We'll keep LSG's dodgy batting onside though first and foremost.
Lucknow are 2.285/4 with Chennai 1.768/11. The two sides are operating at different ends of the spectrum; Lucknow have lost their way and Chennai looked every inch the champs against Mumbai.
This is a tough game for Lucknow. Possibly the worst opponent at the worst venue as they look to breathe life into their campaign.
Chennai's expertise should be too much for them and it is hard to argue there's much wrong with prices.
Lucknow are second-bottom for strike rate in the death overs and they go up against the meanest team for economy in that phase.
That means that if Chennai bowl first and that 1.768/11 is still around - or if there has been any drift - we expect them to squeeze Lucknow.
KL Rahul is on his longest run as an established player without a top-bat win and even though boosted to 13/53.60 he is now out of win-rate territory at 26%. Quinton de Kock is value, though at 3/14.00 although we doubt the pitch suits his style. Krunal Pandya could be worth returning to at 12/113.00 as 30 or 40 might win it. For Chennai, spin should be crucial and Ravi Jadeja for man of the match will be popular at 8/19.00.
