India v Nepal team news
India got away with one against Pakistan on Saturday. They were under the cosh thanks to brilliant bowling from Shaheen Afridi and rain would have meant a simpler chase for their rivals. They were grateful, one suspects, for the abandonment.
Nepal may not offer a test. Nor will any questions be answered about India's balance. Consistent performances from Ishan Kishan throughout the tournament, hough, could help solve the No 4 conundrum. Doubts also remain about Shubman Gill's ability against the best attacks.
They are at least look strong with the ball. Pairing Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj is a sound choice.
Probable XI: Rohit, Gill, Kohli, Shreyas, Ishan, hardik, Jadeja, Thakur, Kuldeep, Bumrah, Siraj
Nepal were competitive for about ten overs bowling first against Pakistan. They nipped out a couple to leave them 25 for two. A similar effort may be considered a sucecss against India's all-star line-up.
Sompal Kami had a good game. He earned a top bowler and top bat double with two wickets and then 28 from the No 5 slot.
Probable XI: Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Paudel, Aarif Sheikh, Kami, Jha, Airee, Malla, Lamichanne, Karan, Rajbanshi
India v Nepal pitch report
After Sri Lanka's win chasing under lights in Palekelle the win percentage for the team batting second at the venue has dipped just under 59%. It looked like holding for Pakistan against India before rain. More showers could impact overs for this one.
India haven't played many of the lower-ranked teams (sharing the wealth and all that) in the last three years. In nine games against West Indies, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh their run rate is 5.8. That figure will becalm those being gung-ho about scores of 350, 375 or more on the innings runs.
India v Nepal match odds
India are 1.021/50. It's ridiculously short before the off. But before you fly into a trade about Nepal at 34.033/1 it is worth noting that you need an immediate result. It drifts quickly without a similar bowling effort that they produced against Pakistan.
Batting-wise they're going to have to post more than 200 to see any sort of drift one would have thought.
India v Nepal player bets
Gill may not be one to back against the best (yet) but we're happy for him to bully Nepal at 12/53.35 for top India bat. Rohit Sharma has been boosted to 13/53.60.
Aasif Sheikh and RK Paudel are Nepal's most reliable batters over the last two years. They are 3/13.95 and 10/34.33 respectively for top bat.
Bumrah is 3/13.95 jolly for top India bowler with Sandeep Lamichhane the same price for Nepal. Kami is 7/24.40 for a repeat.
