No Abbott, Izharhulhaq for Sixers
Hobart Hurricanes v Sydney Sixers
Monday 11 December, 08.15
TV: Live on Sky Sports
Hobart are likely to open up with Matthew Wade meaning Ben McDermott bats at No 3. All-rounder Nikhil Chaudhary has been talked up by the Canes coaching squad and looks likely to start.
Possible XI: Wade, Jewell, McDermott, Heazlett, Hain, David, Chaudhary, Anderson, Jordan, Ellis, Meredith, Dooley
Sixers have suffered a blow with the loss of Sean Abbott. Abbott has not travelled for personal reasons. Steve Smith is not available as he prepares for the first Test against Pakistan. Izharlhaq has not been included, either.
Possible XI: Philippe, Vince, Hughes, Henriques, Kerr, Silk, Edwards, T Curran, Dwarshuis, O'Keefe, Bird
The Arora Stadium has hosted six Bash matches since 2020. That's not a study period long enough to hang a wager on. More than 150 was busted only three times in first-innings, though, so it's certainly not advised to start ploughing into overs on the par line. No rain is forecast.
Did Sixers get away with one against Renegades? A well-prepared side - physically and mentally - may well have got over the line after Sixers' fast start slowed.
Man for man Hurricanes shape up well, particularly after the loss of Abbott for Sixers. From 2.1411/10 Hurricanes can get a foothold in the game. They're not the worst bet by any stretch.
What we like about them is a flexible batting order, including Tim David who can make things happen for them as a finisher. In that regard they have an edge one suspects.
Hayden Kerr is rated at 22/123.00 with Sportsbook for top Sixers bat. Considering there is a slot free as opener, it is worth remembering that in the 2021 season Kerr was tried as opener three times and smashed 98 from 58 balls against Strikers.
