West Indies v England Fifth T20 team news
West Indies transformed themselves into a side which can bat with an extraordinary effort in game four. Having been set 219 to win a batting unit which had collapsed and laboured turned it on and one comfortably by five wickets with an over to spare.
The less said about leaky bowling the better but Evin Lewis and Shai Hope in the opening slots both recorded 50s striking at 219 and 225. From there is was a simple stroll to the target.
Sherfane Rutherford had come back into the side at the expense of Romario Shepherd, meaning that they only had five bowlers. That cost them in the field but the gamble in adding batting depth gave confidence to those up top to hit.
Probable West Indies XI: Hope, Lewis, Pooran, Hetmyer, Powell, Rutherford, Chase, Motie, Akeal, Joseph, McCoy
John Turner came in for the rested Jofra Archer for England and promptly went at ten an over. He was by no means the worst offender with Sam Curran costing 13 and Liam Livingstone's one over going for 30. It felt like an end-of-term bowling performance.
Rehand Ahmed was also pricey again despite three wickets and there may be burgeoning concern that in nine T20s his economy is just shy of ten. With the bat England were super with Jacob Bethell proving once again that he is the readl deal.
Probable England XI: Salt, Jacks, Buttler, Bethell, Livingstone, S Curran, Mousley, J Overton, Rehan, Turner, Saqib
West Indies v England Fifth T20 pitch report
The bias for the chaser held in extremes in game four. Of the last 18 games under lights 13 have been won by the team batting second. And it looked a very flat wicket, too. That means that we are likely to have to pay late 180s on a par line. Maybe even higher for England batting first. They still remain the more reliable unit despite the hosts getting it together.
We would be interested to see Sportsbook specials on both teams for 190 and 200. It might be a quick win to back England to score more than 86 runs in their first ten at 5/61.84. They have not stood on ceremony up front and with the series won and a flat wicket they have no need to be cautious. There is rain forecast earlier in the day but by toss time we should have a full game.
Back England over 86.5 10 over runs
West Indies and England cannot be split with the tourists marginal favourites at 1.9310/11. Again we suggest going with the toss bias for the chaser.
With a 3-1 lead we're pretty sure England are superior so you can filter the wager for Jos Buttler's team to have the toss in their favour. But it should be a great trading game. Big prices at the break on the chaser going after something monstrous are on the table.
We certainly wouldn't be averse to backing England for up to 220 for the win at inflated odds.
Our bet Shai Hope was pipped by Lewis for top bat. We are not inclined to go in again after he produced an extraordinary effort which was worthy of the win. It may be hard to replicate. There's an inkling to return to Nic Pooran for a win in this format. He has one win int the series (game one) but he hasn't really produced anything special yet. Sportsbook go 3/14.00.
