NFL Betting, Superbowl XLII: Why I am delighted the Packers are out

Nick Shiambouros tells us why he was doing a Lambeau Leap last weekend
When Brandon Jacobs forced his way in to the end zone to deliver a crushing body blow to the Green Bay Packers he faked the Lambeau Leap, where a scoring player for the home team leaps in to the crowd to celebrate the score. Had Jacobs actually gone in to the incensed crowed surely he would have been torn to pieces by the bloodthirsty fans. I on the other hand did a version of my own in my living room which was less colourful but, I can assure you, much safer.
The celebrations however did not stop there because Brett Favre, the iconic figure for the Packers, sealed his team's fate with a shocking pass for a interception in overtime to set up a well deserved victory for the 'G Men'. After missing two field goals earlier and with no instruction from his animated and idiotic head coach, Lawrence Tynes took it upon himself to go out and attempt the field goal after missing the two previous attempts. Who can blame this young man for taking matters in his own hands after being publicly ridiculed by Coach Coughlin for missing his field goal attempt at the end of the game? Can you imagine the kind of pressure this guy was under to make the field goal? This was one of the poorest coached matches I have seen in many a year. But at least New York had a coach.
Mike McCarthy was no more than a passenger on a train going nowhere - a certain player (wearing the number four) runs this team. Last year Brett Favre, Packers quarterback, had his agent bombard the general manager Ted Thompson with phone calls threatening to leave unless he got Randy Moss in the off season. Amongst other things, did anybody ask Randy if he wanted to have balls thrown straight at him at 100mph only to face abuse when he could not come up with the ball?
Brett Favre is one of the best quarterbacks I have seen in a long time. I certainly can attest to that having seen him dismantle quality teams over the years with his exceptional talent. His place in the Hall of Fame is both deserved and assured, however over the last five years at least he has not shown up with his A game and his legacy in my view is tainted with his outrageous recent behaviour. I have been to both Lambeau Field and Tampa many times and admired his talents, and Brett has nothing to prove to anyone.
One thing he does need to do now is retire and let the team be run properly by the front office like the rest of the other franchises. Treating the front office like his own personal club is totally unacceptable and he and his ego have set this team back at least five years. It really is sad, but nobody has ever had the guts to bench him as he should have been on numerous occasions, and playing a million games hurt is not smart and has played havoc with his body.
Every year he teases the whole of America as to whether he will come back or not next year. I can assure you Vince Lombardi would have benched him long ago and he would have been just a bench warmer with a clipboard if he wanted to stay on as a back up. Mind you if he was sitting on the bench for the Giants on Sunday his rear end would have been quite chilly as the sporting Packers deliberately cut off the electricity that warms the opposition bench, so the poor old Giants had to stand and shiver.
I hope you go soon Brett and I am sure a nice warm seat awaits you next year in the ESPN studio with Chris and the boys. Who knows, after a couple of years the head coaching job will be yours to clean up the mess you left behind.
To quote the great Jim Rome: "Out".
