The fifth edition of the Grand Series of Poker (GSOP) is in full swing and Betfair Poker players have been, quite frankly, dominating proceedings. After the first four events Betfair Poker players have cashed 55 times, reaching 10 final tables and winning two events outright for cashes totalling $113,171.22, which represents 16.55% of the total money awarded thus far!

Event #1 took place on Sunday 19 September and saw a bumper field of 1,980 pay the $190+$10 fees to smash the $300,000 guarantee by over $76,000. No fewer than 15 Betfair Poker players made it to the money in this event and seven of those went home with scores in excess of four figures! Special mentions need to go out to THEesc who finished just outside of the final table in 13th place, worth $2,461.13. Going even deeper was FOLD_PLEASE who busted in ninth place ($5163.20) and deeper still was MatizBalla who finally exited the tournament in fourth place for a cool $20,102.08.

The following night saw players do battle in the $100+$8 no-limit Hold'em rebuy with a $25,000 guarantee. Everyone must have been in a gambling mood as the eventual prizepool was five times that of the guarantee at $137,300! Proving that Event #1's showing was not just a flash in the pan, a total of 12 Betfair Poker players made the money, in fact they won more than a quarter of the prizepool! This was helped by Dr.Giddens coming 13th for $1,263.10, _dp _ making it to the final table in ninth for $2,560.16 and DogSaysMEOW did the unthinkable and won the entire tournament for a bankroll boosting $25,805.36! An amazing performance I am sure you will agree.

Betfair Poker players were again in amongst the money earners in Event #3, the $150+$12 no-limit Hold'em tournament with a $125,000 guarantee, in fact 18 of you cashed taking home over $15,000 between you! The two biggest cashes of the night belonged to OnPart who's 12th place finish was good for $1,335.39 whilst the fifth place finish for r0sj0n netted him $5,807.27.

Having a Betfair Player cash in any tournament is great but even more so when they completely dominate one! Event #4, the $25,000 guaranteed Pot-limit Omaha Hi/lo tournament saw its guarantee smashed by over $20,000 and more than half of the $45,150 prizepool ended up in Betfair Poker player's accounts! Ten cashes in a single event is brilliant but having five of those make the final table is beyond words! Ballerp0ker started it all off busting in eighth place for $1,075.90 and he was followed by _dp _ in sixth place for $1,776.98, his second final table appearance of GSOP V! Then we realised something extraordinary had occurred as MaryVecks, MondSpieler and the x-rated Ishatbricks finished in third, second and first respectively for scores of $4,224.90, $5,914.86 and $8,576.59. Betfair Poker caught up with the winner not long after his victory and the interview can be found in full here.

The turnout for the GSOP so far has been nothing short of phenomenal and I am looking forward to writing plenty more reports on Betfair Players sweeping all before them at the virtual felt over the next couple of weeks.
