My first proper job was that of a professional punter (mum was delighted!). In those days that meant going to the track every day as there were no live pictures. The natural progression was into bookmaking, first as a racecourse clerk, then tic-tic and finally, the boss.
Always happy to put pen to paper, this led to Fleet Street and working on the sports desk of a Murdoch rag - fun times!
By chance, a route into the biggest casino of all arrived - the City of London. There's nothing like throwing around millions of Pounds of other people’s dough and getting paid handsomely for doing it!
Success wasn't without a price - suffering from burnout, refuge was sought in the form of a sandy beach where the sun shone all day, everyday - bliss!
Around the Millennium an old editor came calling and a stint as French Racing Correspondent for the leading European Bloodstock publication followed.
Actively involved in French racing, breeding and racing my own stock as well as buying and selling at the sales, your feedback and comments are welcome.
