Aidan O'Brien's decision making will determine whether it's ante-post joy for the backers or layers
[2.5] - The St Nicholas Abbey low
[25.0] - The St Nicholas Abbey high
[7.0] - St Nicholas Abbey's current price
Long-time ante-post favourite St Nicholas Abbey touches [10.0] before settling at [7.0] as punters predict an Epsom no-show
St Nicholas Abbey ranges from just 5-2 to 4-1 with traditional bookmakers - but perhaps the Betfair price of [7.0] is more representative of his chances of running in, and winning, the Derby on Saturday.
The money may not be substantial at this stage - the uncertainty around the market precludes any big sums being invested, industry-wide - but at one point this morning St Nicholas Abbey touched [10.0] for Epsom glory on Betfair.
Betfair spokesman Tony Calvin commented: "The Derby market is effectively on hold until the Ballydoyle bulletin due midweek, but the Betfair price of [7.0] is painting a gloomier picture of St Nicholas Abbey lining up on Saturday than very defensive quotes elsewhere."
Ballydoyle rival Jan Vermeer is the current ante-post favourite at [3.75].
