New Zealand are the most backed team in the Betfair Sportsbook's Rugby World Cup outright winner market.

The market cannot split the All Blacks 11/43.75 and hosts France 11/43.75 - who meet in tonight's mouthwatering tournament curtain-raiser - but punters have been putting their money on the three-time champions to claim a fourth title.

There is good news for Ireland supporters on the day of the big kick-off too. Their team are second only to New Zealand when it comes to receiving the most bets on Betfair.

The Irish, who are 4/15.00 to go all the way for the first time, play Romania tomorrow.

France are only the third most-backed team while holders South Africa 16/54.20 come next on the list.

Then it's England 12/113.00 who reached the final four years ago but who have struggled recently.

Their coach Steve Borthwick said this week that his team were being written off prematurely.

Fans and punters will get an early indication of whether or not Borthwick has a point when the Red Rose take on Argentina in their tricky first match on Saturday.
