Wednesday Racing Tips: Key Timeform data including a top-rated Horse In Focus to back at Kempton

Timeform highlight three horses of interest at Kempton on Wednesday...

Kempton, 18:30 - Mbappe went close off same mark last time

Mbappe has been frustrating to follow so far this winter, but he's on an attractive mark these days and looks interesting with Billy Loughnane back in the saddle for his father Mark.

Loughnane was also on board when Mbappe was a 33/134.00 winner at Kempton on his first start for the yard in 2024, the first of his three wins that year. While he drew a blank in 2025, Mbappe has come down the handicap while shaping better than the result in some of his recent starts.

He got no run at all in the straight at Wolverhampton on his penultimate run and wasn't seen to best effect at Kempton last time despite finishing a close third. He was beaten three quarters of a length by the dead-heaters Token Gesture and Apache Green, but the latter hampered Mbappe late on and was demoted as a result.  Off the same mark as last time, Mbappe heads the Timeform weight-adjusted ratings and can come out on top this time.

Kempton, 20:00 - Exposay back to form recently over course and distance

Apprentice Harry Vigors looks very good value for his 7 lb claim and teams up with 'Hot Trainer' David Loughnane to ride Exposay who has a good chance in this fillies' handicap.

Exposay gained her only win to date in a maiden at Thirsk last summer before finding life tougher in handicaps, but she bounced back to her best over course and distance last week after another drop in the weights.

Also with another change of headgear, wearing eyeshields this time, Exposay took a strong hold but had enough left to challenge in the final furlong and was edged out only narrowly late on, beaten just a nose and a head into third behind I'm Workin On It and Party Bear. Exposay heads the Timeform weight-adjusted ratings by a couple of pounds and a reproduction of her last run may well be good enough to win this.

Kempton, 20:30 - Versatile Beylerbeyi can turn tables on Newcastle winner

Kempton's 11-furlong handicap which closes the card is the best race of the evening and it could see another winner for Billy Loughnane, this time riding for 'Hot Trainer' Ian Williams.

Beylerbeyi enjoyed an excellent campaign in 2025, with the last of his four wins coming under Loughnane in the Cesarewitch at Newmarket when picking his way through the field from the rear after a very slow start. That was Beylerbeyi's first try over a marathon trip having begun the year running over a mile.

He's certainly versatile, though, because he ran well on his return earlier this month back over a mile and a quarter in a competitive handicap at Newcastle. In a race run at a very steady gallop, Beylerbeyi shaped well after being short of room in the final furlong, finishing with running left to take third on the line behind King's Code and earning the 'Horse In Focus' flag. The winner very much enjoyed the run of the race that day, and Beylerbeyi, who heads the Timeform weight-adjusted ratings, can turn the tables on that rival here.
