Timeform highlight three horses of interest at Exeter and Wetherby on Tuesday...

14:20, Exeter - Special John interesting back over hurdles

Special John had some fair form over hurdles for both Chris Down and Alexandra Dunn, but he's shown improved form since sent chasing for Sam Thomas.

He landed a gamble on his stable and chasing debut at this course in November, displaying a determined attitude to narrowly deny a next-time-out winner, and he progressed again to follow up from 7lb higher at Wincanton next time.

Special John may have lost his unbeaten record over fences at Windsor last time, but he shaped much better than the bare result, looking sure to go close before his stamina dwindled over a longer trip - he was given the Horse In Focus Flag as a result.

He's back over hurdles now from a 10lb lower mark and, given he remains open to improvement in this sphere, he's one to be interested in from what looks a lenient mark.

14:55, Exeter - Madajovy ready to open his account

Madajovy showed ability in a pair of bumpers and started odds-on for his hurdling debut at Worcester last summer, but was pulled up and found to have an irregular heartbeat.

He has shown improved form since entering handicaps, however, finishing runner-up over 19 furlongs at Warwick on New Year's Eve, attracting more support than previously and leaving the impression he's got more to offer.

Madajovy filled the same position upped further in trip in first-time cheekpieces at Plumpton last time, not as well placed as the winner and more established stayer, but again showing enough to suggest he's up to winning a race of this nature. The return to shorter should be in his favour and he looks more progressive than most in this field - he's the only runner with the Timeform small p.

15:47, Wetherby - Kalhandrion can make all again

Richard Hobson has his team in good order and his Kalhandrion appears to have been well placed to record a third win over fences.

He is a half-brother to the stable's useful chaser Valadom, and he immediately proved himself at better chaser than hurdler when making a winning start in this sphere on his return at Huntingdon in November, landing some nice bets in the process.

Kalhandrion has looked progressive since, unlucky not to win at Doncaster two starts ago, looking by far the most likely winner when slithering on landing at unseating his rider, but he quickly gained compensation at Exeter last month.

The addition of first-time cheekpieces appeared to spark him up, making all of the running and there was plenty to like about that performance. He's been found another small field event and, up just 4lb in the weights, he'll likely prove hard to catch once again.
