15:08, Pontefract - Well-treated Sea Lantern to make winning handicap debut

Morbeh and Alma Latina are a couple of three-year-olds of note, while Lightening Company has a fine record at the track, but Sea Lantern has the potential to improve past all of them on his handicap debut.

The Sea The Stars gelding was a staying-on third to Infraad here on his British/stable debut in April, and that horse has since won two races from marks in the 90s, including the Melrose Handicap at York last month.

Similarly, the runner-up Asia Force has won his last two starts since moving up in trip, with his most recent coming off 83.

Sea Lantern should relish this step back up in distance (recorded a staying-on win for Jack Davison last September over a mile and a half) and his opening mark could prove workable.

16:38, Pontefract - Progressive Digger One fancied to complete hat-trick

Much like his half-brother Whitcombe Rockstar (who won five of his seven starts between April and October in his five-year-old season), Digger One is very much a late developer and looked one to keep firmly onside when following up his breakthrough Salisbury victory at Kempton two weeks ago, coming from near-last to first in under a furlong for no more than hands-and-heels riding.

This is a tougher race, but Keiran Burke has done a good job of getting this five-year-old (who started life in bumpers back in 2024) to a good starting handicap mark and he has improved since stepping up to staying trips.

Another 6 lb rise shouldn't prevent him making a bold bid to complete a quick-fire hat-trick.

19:30, Southwell - Three-year-old Royal County Glory the one to beat

Royal County Glory has really turned the corner since joining Jack Jones and a 6 lb penalty may not prevent him completing the hat-trick here.

Formerly trained in Ireland by Kevin Smith, the gelding broke his duck in April but was picked up by new connections after finishing down the field in a mile handicap at Gowran.

He was well-backed on his stable debut last month, finding the line coming too soon dropped to six furlongs, but has since won a brace of Lingfield handicaps back over seven.

The extra distance here shouldn't be a problem, both on run style and pedigree (dam won over a mile at Dundalk), and he's fancied to win again.
