A big field but Forty Years On and Touleen stand out, the former preferred under the forecast conditions.  

The Mayson filly has gone from strength to strength this year with her connections taking the patient approach, perhaps waiting for softer ground given she'd had an 11-week break since Newbury when following up at Goodwood last time.

She's open to further progress and this race is an obvious target with that level of performance shown last time already good enough to win a typical running of this race.

The main fly in the ointment is Coronation Stakes runner-up Touleen, but her best form has come on quicker ground and it's a little disconcerting to see cheekpieces now tried after an odds-on defeat last time.

A short-head winning margin did no justice whatsoever to Monogram in a C&D maiden last month and, appealing as the type to improve markedly (possesses loads of physical scope), Joseph O'Brien's well-bred colt can take this significant step up in class in his stride.  

The Juddmonte-owned colt - the first in the yard - fell out of the stalls last month but produced an astounding turn of foot to eat up the ground late on, earning him the 'horse in focus' and 'sectional' flags, as well as a 'large P' attached to his rating.

He can improve past Giant Sequoia, Haffner and Dr Rascal in what looks the juvenile race of the season so far.

17:30, Bath - Tonal to follow up Ffos Las win

Seven-time winner Tonal thrived on the all-weather last winter and his Ffos Las success in June showed he's well treated from his lower turf mark.  

The Ian Williams-trained gelding is up 5 lb but looks capable of defying it if returning from a break in top form. Jack Callan - who has a 17% strike-rate when riding older horses - looks a good jockey booking.
