Famous Bridge bidding to repeat 2023 success
All three horses that Joe Tizzard ran at Cheltenham recently were winners and the 'Hot Trainer' sends another strong team to Ascot on Saturday. They include Bobbi With An I who heads the Timeform weight-adjusted ratings in the staying handicap hurdle for mares.
Bobbi With An I has had only three runs over hurdles, making a successful debut under Rules in a mares' novice at Wincanton in January. She reportedly bled next time but shaped encouragingly when returning at Exeter earlier this month for her handicap debut, pulling well clear of the rest when staying on well for fourth behind Apples Moon.
Bobbi With An I earned the 'Horse In Focus' flag for that run over two and a quarter miles, but as a former winning pointer in Ireland the return to today's much longer trip seems sure to suit her much better and she's open to further improvement in receipt of weight from all her rivals.

The first two home in last year's Betfair Chase meet again, with Royale Pagaille going for a hat-trick of wins after he got back up to defeat favourite Grey Dawning at Haydock 12 months ago. However, with conditions forecast to be less testing this time, Grey Dawning may be able to turn the tables on his veteran rival in that particular battle and is greatly respected.
But Grey Dawning may find one too good again this year with progressive second-season chaser Haiti Couleurs in the field. He enjoyed an excellent novice season for Rebecca Curtis, winning four of his five chases and improving into a smart stayer with two big wins in the spring in the National Hunt Novices' Handicap at the Cheltenham Festival and the Irish Grand National.
Haiti Couleurs returned over hurdles in a Pertemps Qualifier at Newbury and added another smart win to his record which he gained in typically gutsy fashion under 12-0, earning the 'Horse In Focus' flag. That suggests Haiti Couleurs remains very much on the upgrade and, back over fences, he looks to have the necessary improvement in him to be a big threat to last year's first two who head the Timeform weight-adjusted ratings. He looks tailor-made for this contest, being a fine jumper with plenty of stamina to call on.

Some useful handicappers go over the Betfair Chase trip in the final event on Haydock's card, and this can go to one of the top-weights, Famous Bridge, who won the same contest two years ago.
Famous Bridge has earned the 'Horses For Courses' flag as he has a proven record at the track, also winning the Tommy Whittle in 2023 and finishing first past the post in the Grand National Trial in February.
'Hot Trainer' Nicky Richards gave Famous Bridge a pipe-opener over hurdles at Ayr three weeks ago, and that run should have put him spot on to win this again. He's back in the cheekpieces he wore in his latter races last season and heads the Timeform weight-adjusted ratings, being back on the same mark he had in the Grand National Trial.
