Musselburgh, 16:15 - 'Horse In Focus' Blues And Royals has more to offer

Blues And Royals had been gelded ahead of his handicap debut and seasonal reappearance at Kempton last month and he produced a much-improved performance to get off the mark.

Blues And Royals was patiently ridden and further back than ideal in a race run at just a steady gallop, but he quickened up nicely to lead approaching the final half-furlong and was well on top by the line, looking value for more than the winning margin of a length given how that race developed. 

That performance earned Blues And Royals the 'Horse In Focus' Flag from Timeform's reporter to mark him out as one likely to be of firm interest next time, and he still looks well treated following a 3 lb rise in the weights. Blues And Royals heads Timeform's weight-adjusted ratings by 3 lb and still has the Timeform 'small p' to show further improvement is expected.

Musselburgh, 17:15 - Improving Sea Force hasn't reached his limit

Sea Force came up short on his first few starts in handicap company, but he shaped with encouragement on all three occasions and built on that promise when signing off for the season in style at Yarmouth.

Sea Force was well positioned in a race run at just a steady gallop, but there was still a lot to like about how decisively he won, quickening up to lead inside the final couple of furlongs and always finding enough to score by a length and a half.    

That was his best performance yet on Timeform's figures and a 6 lb rise in the weights doesn't look severe (he narrowly heads Timeform's weight-adjusted ratings here). He's in excellent hands with William Haggas and looks likely to carry on improving, as denoted by the Timeform 'small p'.

Musselburgh, 18:45 - 'Horse In Focus' Montezuma can build on promising return

Montezuma is still a maiden but has posted some creditable placed efforts in handicaps and looks to have a bigger effort in his locker, mindful that he doesn't have many miles on the clock for a sprinter.

He never threatened to land a blow on the winner, Wheels of Fire, when runner-up over this course and distance on his reappearance eight days ago, but it might have been a different story had he not been short of room on a couple of occasions when trying to make headway inside the final couple of furlongs. 

Montezuma stormed home when finally in the clear, earning the Horse In Focus Flag, and he looks capable of building on that eye-catching return.
