Timeform highlight three horses of interest at Ludlow, Wetherby and Chelmsford on Thursday...

14:07, Ludlow - Return to shorter should suit Rockinastorm

With a record of two wins and a second from four starts at his local track, Rockinastorm has the 'Horses For Courses' flag as he returns to Ludlow where he gets into the richest race on the card, the Forbra Gold Cup, off bottom weight. Rockinastorm gained his latest win at Ludlow last season before following up at Wetherby, both times ridden from the front by David Bass who is back on board here.

Rockinastorm is yet to trouble the judge this year, but he shaped as if back in form at Windsor last time over three and a half miles. That stretched his stamina in soft ground in what was a competitive contest won by Neo King, with Rockinastorm weakening between three and two out to finish seventh after chasing the leaders.

The drop back in trip should therefore suit Rockinastorm whose trainer Henry Daly has the 'Hot Trainer' flag and has won this race twice in the recent past with Head To The Stars.

16:10, Wetherby - Dan Skelton's Wetherby runners worth following

Dan Skelton has a strike rate of 28% at Wetherby in the last five seasons, winning more races there in that time that at any other track bar Warwick, and has a good chance of keeping up that record with unexposed staying hurdler Blue Carpet.

A bumper winner on his debut last season, Blue Carpet has had just the three runs over hurdles so far. After finishing second on his hurdling debut at Chepstow, Blue Carpet went one better on his previous visit to Wetherby in October when landing the odds against two rivals. But he ran his best race when stepped up further in trip to three miles for his handicap debut at Newbury the following month.

Blue Carpet kept on to finish a length and three quarters behind Keable, and the form of that race has worked out well, with the winner putting up a useful effort to win a Pertemps Qualifier at Chepstow last weekend. Given a break since Newbury, Blue Carpet returns at the top of the Timeform weight-adjusted ratings and makes plenty of appeal in his bid to win his second race of the season at Wetherby.

19:30, Chelmsford - Signcastle City a course-and-distance winner last time

A winner three times on turf in 2024, Signcastle City paid for that success last year as he couldn't quite get his head in front from BHA marks in the 80s despite a number of placed efforts.

However, the handicapper has shown him some leniency on the all-weather of late, and after a promising second at Lingfield earlier this month when worn down only late on, he got his head back in front over this evening's course and distance a fortnight ago. Challenging late this time in a truly-run race, Signcastle City got up for a head win over Panelli, with the reopposing Captain Parma back in third.

A 2 lb rise in the weights means that Signcastle City remains well-treated on the pick of last season's form while apprentice Tyrese Cameron takes 5 lb off his back. He heads the Timeform weight-adjusted ratings, while his stable is in form too, with Richard Hannon having the 'Hot Trainer' flag.
