Timeform pick out the horses of interest on Tuesday

Timeform highlight three horses of interest at Taunton and Wolverhampton on Tuesday.

  • Premier is going the right way

  • Ourbrowneyedgirl has untapped potential

  • Captain Robert's form is working out

Taunton, 15:15 - Improving Premier has more to offer

Premier failed to reward good support when quickly switched to handicap company at Plumpton in November, but he made amends over this course and distance a few weeks later, finding plenty after the final flight to hold on by a head.

Premier had to settle for minor honours at Newbury last time, but he ran at least as well in defeat, coming from further back in a steadily-run race than the pair who beat him.

Some mistakes counted against Premier, including one at the final flight when trying to make headway, and he remains capable of better if brushing up on his jumping. That should come with experience and he is the only runner in this line-up with the Timeform 'small p' to highlight improvement is expected.

Taunton, 16:45 - 'Horse In Focus' Ourbrowneyedgirl can build on recent promise

Ourbrowneyedgirl made no impact in maiden hurdles but showed more to work with when third on her handicap debut at Wincanton on Thursday, earning the Horse In Focus Flag from Timeform's reporter to mark her out as one likely to be of firm interest next time.

Ourbroweyedgirl was ridden more prominently than she had been in maiden hurdles and responded positively to those change in tactics, sticking to her task pleasingly and leaving the impression that she's on a handy mark.

She has the Timeform 'small p' to highlight her untapped potential and, while she's likely to benefit from longer trips, she still looks capable of defying her current mark over this intermediate distance.

Wolverhampton, 19:00 - Top-rated Captain Robert can add to tally

Captain Robert had gone close in a couple of staying handicaps and deservedly got off the mark at Chelmsford last time, seeing his race out well under a more patient ride than usual.

Captain Robert scored by a length from Cardinal Point, who went on to register a wide-margin win at Wolverhampton a couple of starts later, while third-placed Daaris also gave the form a boost by winning next time out.

That's a solid bit of form for the grade so a 4 lb rise in the weights could underestimate Captain Robert who comes out with a 4 lb advantage on Timeform's weight-adjusted ratings.
