Alan likes the look of two horses in the King George V and Britannia handicaps on Thursday

"That was a spectacular win as the pace was aggressive and hard from the front-runners. And while Inverness travelled quite nicely a long way behind, he hit the top price of 1000.0999/1 in-running with a storming run down the outside."

Alan Dudman is heading into Thursday's Royal action with a 160/1 each-way double for the big handicaps on Day 3...

Inverness trying 1m4f for the first time a plus

Back Inverness @ 23.022/1 in the 15:05 at Royal Ascot in the King George V Stakes

Trainer Charlie Hills has maintained a more than pleasing strike-rate for the majority of the season and enjoyed a big race success yesterday with his Royal Hunt Cup victory. I am backing for another handicap pot snaffled by Hills.

Inverness is a big price at 23.022/1, although he was even bigger yesterday, so the market is very much positive as he steps up into hot waters for the King George V Handicap. And we cannot complain about field sizes and a lack of runners today; they're everywhere!

Inverness goes in stall 14, and he's a horse who will absolutely the love the fast ground.

The son of Highland Reel ran in the Coroebus Novice at Newmarket last season, which is also the race that welcomed Frankel and Roaring Lion to the world. And Nathaniel may I add. The first six have all won out of that race last season with the second now 97. Inverness was sixth in that and was also fair and squarely beaten on his return at Epsom in the Blue Riband Trial. Clearly they must have thought he had ability pitching into those sort of races.

Both were over shorter, and he's really bred for today's trip of 1m4f given his pedigree and he shaped like a stayer winning his 2yo race at Goodwood. That was a spectacular win as the pace was aggressive and hard from the front-runners. And while Inverness travelled quite nicely a long way behind, he hit the top price of 1000.0999/1 in-running with a storming run down the outside when he had plenty of ground to make up.

Stamina could be key and his finishing speed in the final 3f at Goodwood of 105% backs that up. We can also play the six places on the Sportsbook each-way.

Wanees can justify market support for Hills

Back Waness @ 7.513/2 in the 17:00 at Royal Ascot in the Britannia

The each-way double is Charlie Hills-heavy today although Wanees was another backed on the Sportsbook from 15/2 to 13/2 in a massive field of 30.

I liked his win in the traditionally strong Esher Cup on his reappearance last time out, and his strong traveling style caught the eye again despite pulling hard in the early part of the race.

He done ever so well to come from a bit further back that day as the second, third and fourth were handily ridden. The steady early pace wasn't ideal either, so it was some effort to win running against the speed advantage of those behind.

A big field on fast ground today won't exactly be run at a dawdle, and that should very much suit considering how keen he was last time - even with a hood on - which has been left off for today.

He was a progressive 2yo, albeit one mentally immature according to Hills, but he could make his mark as a decent horse this term now up to a mark of 91. He is by Le Havre, whose stock like soft ground, but it was fast at Sandown and shouldn't be a problem on that.

Four places for this race, and he'll be drawn high.
