Paul Nicholls: November meeting conjures fond memories for me
Over the years, we have done very well at Cheltenham's November meeting. We have been particularly successful in the Paddy Power Gold Cup which takes place on Saturday.
But first up I have two runners on Friday of the three day meeting and you can read my exclusive preview of their chances below.
14:20 Cheltenham - Isaac Des Obeaux
He runs in the Novice Chase and the rain that has fallen so far will benefit him. There is up to 35mm of rain forecast on Friday on top of the lightly watered ground. I imagine it will get quite testing. Who knows whether the forecast is correct, but I expect the ground to be soft and that will help Isaac Des Obeaux.
He is making his seasonal return. He ran some ok races last season but nothing spectacular. He has it all to do on ratings but I hope he will improve this season. He seems well and jumps nicely.
15:30 Cheltenham - No Drama This End
He is making his hurdles debut in this Grade 2. We will know a bit more about him after this race. He won his bumper at Warwick, and his point to point, very nicely. This is his toughest task to date by a long way. He has been working nicely. He did a lovely gallop the other day at Newbury.
He is a very laid back horse. I don't thinking anything will faze him. He needs to gain experience. Hopefully he will run well.
