Today's Racing Tips: Two to back at Newmarket on the final day of the Cambridgeshire meeting

What a cracking day of action we have on the Rowley Mile on Saturday and a race that really kicks off the top-class action is the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes where it looks a straight match race between Burning Up and First Law.

I am siding with the Karl Burke trained Burning Up, who does have more to prove on ratings than the highly expensive Godolphin Colt, but the way he went away from the field on his latest start at Haydock makes me thing he could be the horse with more potential to come.

A winner at Haydock over a mile on debut back in August when readily putting away Arthurian for Andrew Balding, he then went back over the same C&D giving weight away and went on to bolt up again, showing big progression from his first run.

First Law cost 1 million guineas and dug in well at Haydock last time out on heavy ground to land a decent Listed event. Comparing the two Burning Up looks to be more mature and less green than First Law on their first two starts and that could just be the difference on Saturday.

There is very little to split the pair as their price suggests, but Burning Up just gets my vote and I can see them both finishing in the first two home and would recommend playing the forecast.

The Group 1 Middle Park Stakes looks very different to how many thought it would before the 48-hour declaration Stage with Aidan O'Brien pulling out his big chance in the race.

Friday saw a superb day for Godolphin with an across the card treble at Newmarket at Haydock and it might not be the smartest move in the world to go against Charlie Appleby with the form of his yard at the moment.

But alas, I am doing just that in both the Royal Lodge and Middle Park Stakes. Inner City Clues is short enough in the market at 13/82.63 for my liking on what he has achieved so far, and I am taking him on with Clive Cox's Orthodox at 5/23.50.

Orthodox showed a sensational turn of foot on debut at Salisbury back in May when winning going away over 5f. Staying over the same trip at Royal Ascot in the 21-runner Group 2 Norfolk Stakes, he showed that lightning turn of foot again to bolt up by over three lengths.

Last seen in the Group 1 Prix Morny at Deauville, the soft ground spoiled his chances, and I am happy to forgive him that run and I am not taking the assumption that he did not stay the extra 1f he tackled that day.

Back on a sounder surface where he can show his speed, I think he has shown more to date than Inner City Blues and their price differential is the defining factor in this selection.

This looks another race where I can't see anything other than the top two getting involved.
