Katie Midwinter has tips at Fairyhouse, Newbury, Lingfield and Kempton on Wednesday

Horse Racing tipster Katie Midwinter has selections at Fairyhouse, Newbury, Lingfield and Kempton on the Betfair Sportsbook this Wednesday...

  • Katie Midwinter has eight selections across the cards

  • Closutton representative could outrun his odds in Fairyhouse handicap

  • Oliver Signy-trained pair warrant consideration at Newbury

Lingfield, 12:25 - Back Nad Alshiba Snow @ 10/34.33

At this level, four-year-old Nad Alshiba Snow should be able to put in a bold bid for Mike Murphy in the hands of Paddy Bradley.

Currently rated 50 as she runs in a Classified Stakes race for the first time, the daughter of Oasis Dream has been rated as high as 78 in the past, and once featured in the Group Three Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Whilst she's still seeking a maiden win, she has been able to be competitive in novice company previously behind the likes of now 90-rated Moving Force and now 81-rated Wheels Of Fire, respectively, and once finished fourth to Perfect Part, now rated 87, in a Beverley contest, with now 87-rated Maw Lam in second.

There's substance to her earlier form and, more recently, she has been able to be somewhat competitive in handicaps from a mark in the low 50s against higher rated opponents. This could be a feasible opportunity for Nad Alshiba Snow to finally get off the mark and shed her maiden tag at the 16th time of asking, and she may be worth keeping the faith in at a price of 10/34.33.

Newbury, 12:35 - Back It's Top E/W @ 14/115.00

It's Top is an intriguing contender on the back of a 327-day break and wind surgery for Oliver Signy. He's entitled to come on for his return to action in this opening contest, but has won when fresh in the past and could pose a threat if ready on his return.

The point winner, who makes his hurdling debut here, made a successful start to life under Rules, beating Jordans Cross, a now 134-rated chaser, by half-a-length at Chepstow, in a race that has been working out well, with a number of winners emerging from it. The race had previously been won by some useful types including the likes of Silver Forever, Chavez, the promising Hullnback, Isaac Des Obeaux and Good Boy Bobby.

It was a promising start for the son of It's Gino, who showed some greenness but plenty of raw ability paired with a good attitude to stick on well in the closing stages, appearing to have a bit in hand come the line.

In his two subsequent starts, the six-year-old has struggled to make an impression but it;s too early to give up on a gelding who has shown to possess talent in beating a number of useful rivals.

It's Top was unable to land a blow on 14-length winner Windbeneathmywings when upped into Listed company at Ascot, and couldn't sustain his challenge at Exeter when last seen in February, but wind surgery may have helped and he remains a horse of interest who could prove worth keeping onside.

Fairyhouse, 13:45 - Back Minella Sixo E/W @ 14/115.00

Top weight Minella Sixo could have the class to win this three-mile contest under 7lb claimer Paddy Cleary if ready after a 166-day absence.

The seven-year-old gelding is capable of showing further improvement in only his eighth start over hurdles, returning from an unsuccessful chasing debut at Galway, and has shown he is able to compete against tough opposition already.

Last term, the point winner made a comfortable start on Rules debut, landing his maiden by eight-lengths, before chasing home now 149-rated Potters Charm at Cheltenham.

The son of Shantou finished second to Pray Tell in a Cork Grade Three, before being beaten only by exciting prospect The Big Westerner, a recent Grade Two winner over fences who has placed in a Cheltenham Festival Grade One, and Mozzies Sister in a Limerick Grade Two, when finishing five-and-a-half-lengths ahead of fourth-placed Fleur In The Park.

Although things haven't quite worked out since that effort last winter for Minella Sixo, he remains a horse worthy of note who warrants consideration. He has proven he has class and is unexposed in handicaps coming into this race.

Newbury, 14:05 - Back Gold In The Rivers E/W @ 12/113.00

Seven-year-old gelding Gold In The Rivers is equipped with first-time blinkers in his first run following wind surgery in this contest.

The David Pipe-trained contender could be capable of making his presence felt from a mark of 116, having put in a creditable effort over 2m4f at Ludlow in his penultimate start, outrunning odds of 25/126.00 to finish in second behind Kalif d'Airy.

He had previously shaped with some promise for Gordon Elliott, winning his maiden hurdle by 15-lengths, and put in two respectable fourth-placed efforts behind Tutti Quanti and Shallow River respectively in his first couple of starts for his current yard.

The step up in trip may well suit this son of Walk In The Park, who couldn't make an impression at Lingfield when last seen in a first-time tongue-tie. He remains unexposed in handicaps over fences, making only his third chase start, and there could be further improvement to come from him.

Under Jack Tudor, Gold In The Rivers is one to note and makes each-way appeal at a price of 12/113.00.

Fairyhouse, 14:15 - Back Tullyhill E/W @ 9/110.00

At a price of 9/110.00, Tullyhill warrants consideration for Willie Mullins under Danny Mullins, despite needing to bounce back from a pulled up outing at Navan.

The grey hasn't fired since a Listed win as a novice hurdler at Punchestown almost two years ago, struggling for consistency subsequently. He was sent off as the 11/43.75 favourite for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the 2024 Cheltenham Festival, but couldn't make an impression under Paul Townend before being pulled up at the Punchestown Festival in his final start over hurdles to date.

Yet to get off the mark over fences in six runs, Tullyhill has shaped with some potential as a chaser on occasion, second to Majborough on chasing debut before matching that finishing position when chasing home Mistergif, and second to subsequent Grade Two runner-up Fleur In The Park at Wexford, when finishing ahead of Flicker Of Hope.

The eight-year-old was pulled up when upped in trip to an extended 2m4f at Navan when last seen, with his rider reporting he became tired late on, and he returns to a more familiar distance of 2m1f here.

Whilst improvement is required from Tullyhill, it could prove worth keeping the faith in a horse who has shown to possess plenty of ability and shaped with such promise earlier in his career.

A mark of 143 could prove lenient for the point winner if he does enjoy a favourable trip and is on a going day, and he makes each-way appeal at the prices for team Closutton.

Newbury, 14:40 - Back Block Rockin Beats @ 11/26.50

Well supported on his step up to 2m7f last month at Lingfield, Block Rockin Beats won well by two-and-a-quarter-lengths at the line, subsequently given a 6lb rise, now running from a mark of 115. He remains unexposed in only his seventh hurdling start, however, and there could be further progression to come from him over the staying distances.

The Oliver Signy-trained gelding has previously shown great form in bumpers, beating Fortune De Mer at Cheltenham before finishing second to the same rival when upped into Listed company at Prestbury Park. Since then, he had struggled to make a serious impression over obstacles, with things not quite working out favourably for him.

His fourth at Kempton in November suggested a step up in trip may suit, when fourth to Turndlightsdownlow, and that proved to be the case in his latest outing.

The point winner could double up under Gavin Sheehan on the back of an impressive victory, and may be worth sticking with considering the ceiling of his ability is unknown and he has been able to compete twice with a progressive 134-rated hurdler.

Lingfield, 15:05 - Back Haveagobeau E/W @ 13/27.50

Another maiden on the card at Lingfield who could prove worth keeping the faith in is seven-year-old gelding Haveagobeau. He's still in search of a first success as he makes his 31st career start, but has often shown he is capable of being competitive in his races, and performed with credit when fourth over course-and-distance at odds of 18/119.00 in his latest run.

The likeable performer was only narrowly denied at Brighton during September, beaten a head by Roman Spring when sent off at a price of 20/121.00, and, from a low mark of 46 with 5lb claimer Jack Dace aboard once again, he could finally strike.

Holding each-way claims at a price of 13/27.50, Haveagobeau may finally land a first win with a favourable trip and shouldn't be discounted for Jim Boyle.

Kempton, 20:00 - Back Media Shooter E/W @ 12/113.00

Course-and-distance winner Media Shooter is now only 2lb higher than his previous winning mark when successful at Musselburgh in August 2024, and holds solid claims at the weights should he bounce back from his latest couple of runs for his new trainer James Owen. He hasn't been in a position to threaten in his latest outings, but remains a horse to keep onside from his current rating.

Formerly trained by Karl Burke, the son of Advertise shaped with promise during his debut campaign, winning a novice event at Wolverhampton before finishing sixth at odds of 40/141.00 in a valuable York contest for the juveniles.

As a three-year-old, he recorded three successes, and was able to hold his own against tough opposition including James's Delight. Possessing plenty of ability on a going day, it shouldn't be too long before this five-year-old returns to the winners' enclosure and he is one to keep onside from a workable mark.
