Newton Abbot, 16:30 - Back American Land @ 11/43.75

Course-and-distance winner American Land is only 2lb higher than his last success and should be capable of a bold showing in familiar surroundings as he bids for a third course win. He finished a decent second to The Kemble Brewery, who has since franked the form, at Chepstow when last seen, following on from a creditable effort at the same venue when fourth at odds of 22/123.00 to Authentic Legacy.

The eight-year-old, who is yet to be fully exposed, has proven his credentials from a similar mark at this track in the past, and has plenty in his favour for Joe Tizzard in this 2m1f contest. Under Brendan Powell, American Land holds strong claims and warrants serious consideration as he bids for a sixth win in 15 hurdling starts.

Curragh, 18:45 - Back Shadow Run E/W @ 14/115.00

Three-year-old gelding Shadow Run was only narrowly denied by Oh Cecelia on handicap debut at Naas earlier this term, beaten only by the same rival who inflicted defeat upon him at Cork in his subsequent run before she went on to achieve a rating of 101 with placed efforts at Group Three and Listed level.

Shadow Run was in receipt of 2lb when meeting Oh Cecelia in his penultimate start, and is only 2lb higher rated, putting him in with solid claims at the weights on collateral form. He remains unexposed in handicap company, has substance to his form, and should be capable of showing further progression having made only five starts to date.

The Michael O'Callaghan-trained runner has shaped with potential so far this term and could be well treated back in handicap company from his current rating. He is still seeking a maiden victory but makes each-way appeal under Keithen Kennedy, one to note at the prices.

Curragh, 18:45 - Back Tornado Kiss E/W @ 12/113.00

Tornado Kiss is another unexposed contender worth considering in this competitive 5f sprint handicap. She was sent off at odds of 4/15.00 when unable to make an impression at Cork in her latest run, but that outing may be worth putting a line through on handicap debut and she could be capable of better.

The daughter of Acclamation had previously finished fourth and fifth in respective Listed appearances, following on from three creditable efforts in maiden company. She was a close second to subsequent winner By The Lake on debut, before finishing half-a-length second to Luna Mia, who has noteworthy form against tough opposition, at Naas.

Her maiden success came when beating subsequent winner Bad Boy Rizz at Cork, justifying odds of 8/111.73 to get off the mark, and, now in handicap company, she could be capable of showing progression beyond her current rating of 81 for Andrew Slattery.

Ripon, 19:42 - Back Blind Beggar E/W @ 16/117.00

Although his recent form figures leave a lot to be desired, Blind Beggar is dropping in class from a workable mark which could allow him to rediscover form for Jessica Macey. He's now 6lb below his last winning mark with 5lb claiming Jack Dace in the saddle, making him an enticing proposition at the weights, with plenty of experience in his favour.

Things haven't panned out favourably for him so far this year, but he was able to be competitive from a much higher rating for the yard in the latter months of last year, emerging with credit from runs at Sandown, Doncaster and Newmarket, respectively, and it's too early to give up on the eight-year-old, who is a capable performer on his day.

Bet of the day: Curragh, 20:25 - Back Jon Riggens E/W @ 8/19.00

Experienced eight-year-old gelding Jon Riggens has caught the eye in recent runs, putting in good efforts over 6f and 7f at this track. He was beaten three-lengths by Merisi Diamond when weakening late having run well for a long way at odds of 40/141.00 in his penultimate starts, before finishing strongly behind Genesis at 10/111.00 when last seen.

Now 10lb below his last winning mark with Billy Lee taking over in the saddle for Edward Lynam, this could be the perfect opportunity for Jon Riggens to return to the winners' enclosure in familiar surroundings. With course form in his favour from a lenient mark, the likeable gelding could be worth keeping onside as he bids for a fifth career success.
