Bet of the day: Pontefract, 16:00 - Back Holloway Boy @ 8/111.73

Likeable gelding Holloway Boy drops back to Listed level following a brilliant second-placed effort to stablemate Zeus Olympios in an Ascot Group Two when last seen, finishing ahead of dual Group Three winner Seagulls Eleven and favourite More Thunder, twice placed at Group One level this year.

The Karl Burke-trained gelding had shown plenty of good form in Stakes company, particularly in Meydan with a string of creditable efforts in Group races including when third to both Romantic Warrior and Opera Ballo in respective races at the top level.

The son of Ulysses had often performed well in tough handicaps from a hefty weight, showing his tenacious qualities and toughness as well as a high level of ability. He is more than capable of landing another Listed prize and should prove tough to beat under Clifford Lee in this mile contest.

Pontefract, 17:00 - Back My Boy Jack E/W @ 20/121.00

Seven-year-old gelding My Boy Jack finished third at Brighton in his penultimate start at odds of 16/117.00, before achieving a fourth-placed finish at the same venue when back in handicap company earlier this month. He's capable of better and could put in an improved effort under 5lb claimer Mason Paetel, having made the frame from a higher rating previously.

My Boy Jack was in good form this time last year, finishing second twice and third in three runs during July 2025, and could be worth keeping the faith in from a workable mark.

Whilst it's been two years since the experienced performer has struck, he has posed a threat on multiple occasions since and could do so again for Kevin and Lauren Frost.

Pontefract, 17:30 - Back Bell Shot @ 7/24.50

Experienced gelding Bell Shot makes his 55th start in this 6f contest as he bids for a tenth career win. He's currently 3lb lower than his last winning mark dropping back down to 6f with a visor replacing cheekpieces.

The seven-year-old gelding has put in a number of decent efforts so far this term, including when a length third at odds of 28/129.00 to Chalk Mountain at Kempton in the spring. He's capable of putting in a bold bid from his current mark of 81 under 5lb claiming Mason Paetel, and could go close for Mick Appleby in the finale on the card.
