Saturday Racing Multi: Bank on Richards in a super Kelso treble at 98/1

Can Alan land a big priced multiple at Kelso this Saturday on ITV?

Lookaway was an advised [11/1] winner for Alan Dudman last weekend in the multiple column and he previews Kelso's big day on ITV on Saturday with three tips for a [98/1] multi. Ideal material for anyone looking to use Betfair's Bet £10 Get £10 offer on racing multiples...

Kelso - 13:10: Back Doyen Du Bar @ 9/25.50

Doyen Du Bar looked a novice chaser going places last term. A second to Vincenzo, that perennial Saturday runner, at Sandown last winter earmarked him as a horse with a future, likewise when he bolted up in heavy going at Ayr by six lengths for Pauline Robson.

A switch to Greystoke, and the trainer of chasers par excellence in Nicky Richards, has resulted in three blanks this term - over 2m, 2m1 and 2m6f.

He has been racing on soft ground, so there is no real excuse, but it might be more the company he has kept, as he's been in Class 2 races and 0-150s. Now, he's in 0-130 company and down in grade, at perhaps his best trip as he didn't look an obvious stayer over 2m6f at Market Rasen last time, and he was never really involved anyway with a ride that saw him held up too far off the pace.

Going left-handed will suit down the line with this horse, and a bit of rain forecast will keep me interested as the chase course appears to be softer than the hurdles track for this weekend.

Richards at Kelso has an 18% strike-rate here this term too.

Kelso - 14:15: Back Starmount @ 7/24.50

Mr Pauling and Mr Jones have been very kind to this Saturday multiple column and I cannot see beyond Starmount in the Grade 2 Kelso Premier Hurdle. A decent price too at 7/24.50

We normally insert the words "son of likeable sire" but in this case it's son of the wonderful mare Sparky May, remember her? Starmount is doing his bit for the lineage.

A debut novice hurdle win at Wetherby in easy fashion saw a rise in class to the Grade 1 Formby at Aintree on Boxing Day, and while a 14/115.00 shot, he didn't totally disgrace himself in fourth on good to soft - not ideal those conditions.

A mere testimonial lap followed last time - at odds of 1/71.14 at Wetherby in a 15L stroll and time to light a cigar on the way round, which reportedly puts him on course for the EBF Final at Sandown. The ground was against him at Aintree and rain again will suit here, as Pauling has said of the horse: "After being duffed up in a Grade 1, you want to see them still have the same attitude to the job, and he did.

"The ground at Aintree was far too quick for him, so I was pleased to get back on to a bit of soft ground. I'm delighted he's back on track."

Up in trip slightly to 2m2f will suit here and he will stay further.

Kelso - 15:30: Back Florida Dreams @ 3/14.00

The Nicky Richards love-in for Saturday will increase ten-fold with a win here for the last leg (we can dream) and Florida Dreams has held up well in the betting this week as I put him up in the Tuesday antepost column at 6/17.00. Now at half the price, I am feeling a little more confident.

This 15:30 is a 0-150 in name only, and no horse in this is rated above 133 - and one of those is running after an absence of 441 days.

He was last seen at Musselburgh in a race that might have stretched him from a stamina point of view and it was also his fifth of the season, which is quite unusual for Richards, who is a trainer that can perhaps save them a wee bit.

However, on the plus side, he is back down in trip which could suit, and is also lower in the mark stakes now on 123 - which is 4lb lower than his third to Kabral Du Mathan at Haydock at the Betfair Chase meeting. On that, he'd be a well treated horse.
