Saturday Racing Multi Tips: Back two previous Sandown scorers to deliver a 30/1 double in Esher

Alan Dudman has two handicap picks for Sandown in a big price double

Alan Dudman looks ahead to Sandown's card on Saturday and has picked out two previous CD winners for his weekend double...

Sandown - 14:25, Coral Challenge Handicap Tip: Back Indalo @ 15/44.75

The 14:25 Coral Challenge sees Tribal Chief, Indalo and Beagle Bay all at the top of the betting with a little over a point separating the trio in terms of price, and while Beagle Bay is progressive and Tribal Chief is consistent, my preference here is for Indalo.

Roger Varian's five-year-old doesn't run too many bad races and narrowly lost out to Classic, who reopposes here and is an 11/112.00 poke, at Newbury earlier in the season and followed up with another placed effort in the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot.

That was obviously a massive run under the circumstances with the draw bias at the Royal meeting the worst it has ever been. The winner and second were both stands' side, likewise the fourth but Indalo who was so far over to the opposite parish you needed a telescope to see him, but he won his battle.

Indalo won over CD last term, winning easily too from off the pace with plenty in hand and he seems to have one burst in these handicaps to mount a challenge with his change of pace.

Quick ground suits and is a big player.

Sandown, 17:22, Coral Celebrating 100 Years Handicap Tip: Back Flying Frontier @ 11/26.50

We're going for another previous course and distance winner across the Sandown plains with Flying Frontier, who is bidding to win this particular handicap on Eclipse day for the second successive season.

He was an 8/19.00 poke 12 months ago when somehow winning and any price you like in-running (incidentally 299/1 in-play) as he looked in a perilous position in rear and even had to switch wide and squeeze through.

Squeeze through he did, and it was some victory in beating the gallant Sir Busker, and the performance was even more meritorious considering it was quite steadily run in terms of the finishing speed.

He is very much a hold-up performer and to be ridden with nerves of steel, like he did 12 months ago and also winning at the track in 2024.

Quite a promising horse in the early part of his career, he ran poorly on his reappearance at Pontefract but shaped a lot better last time at Redcar just behind the progressive Danger Bay and smooth travelling Spoken Truth.

It was a race that saw nothing go right for him as he was hampered leaving the stalls and was a long way back with 3f to go, but did finish strongly once more - and it wasn't a surprise he recorded the fastest final furlong in the entire field at 11.59 seconds.

With a habit of beating three-figure horses at Sandown in the past, I like him for the repeat bid.
