Subjectivist had plenty of racing as a juvenile but, like many from the Mark Johnston stable, he has kicked on again as a three-year-old. He wasn't at his best in the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York last time, but that race became a relative test of speed, which wouldn't have played to the strengths of Subjectivist, who has run well over a mile and three-quarters on heavy ground. His close-up third to Mogul in the Gordon Stakes is the best form on offer and this looks a good opportunity for him to bounce back.

Maykir - 16:25 Windsor

Maykir bounced back to form here last time, winning by a couple of lengths. However, he was given a good ride on that occasion with Marco Ghiani - who is back onboard here - bagging an advantageous position. He is clearly entitled to respect but a 6 lb higher mark demands more and he is worth opposing at a short price, with Compass Point making greatest appeal.

Mark Johnston won this with Hochfeld and Star of the East, while Themaxwecan was runner-up last year, so his representative, Mondain, is of obvious interest. Mondain was below his best at Ripon last time, but he was badly impeded late in the contest and it may instead be worth focusing on his previous effort at Ascot, where he ran well to finish runner-up.
