Today's most backed horse runs at York

Thursday's most backed horse is a 2yo sprinter at York, where his trainer has a fantastic record in the race he runs in today...

We're heading to York for Thursday's most backed horse with the 19-runner Goffs Premier Yearling Stakes at 14:25 being the race of interest.

Richard Hannon Jr has a terrific record in the contest, winning four of the last six renewals, so it's no surprise to see his runner Shouldvebeenaring attracting plenty of support early doors.

The two-year-old was available to back at 13/2 when the market first opened, but that was evidently too big as he's now been backed all the way down to 11/4 despite the race having an open feel to it.

Shouldvebeenaring was only fourth of six over 5f on his racecourse debut at Goodwood back in April, but he stepped up on that performance over today's trip of 6f when winning decisively at Ripon the following month.

It's perhaps a slight concern that he missed Royal Ascot and has been off the track for 95 days but it's quite possible that his trainer has had this race as his main target all season, and the weight of money suggests he's done pleny of improving at home.

His main danger may well come from the powerful northern yard of Richard Fahey who saddles Dare To Hope who himself has attracted support in from 13/2 to 11/2, but if the market vibes are correct then they'll all be chasing home Shouldvebeenaring this afternoon.

11/4
