Snazzy Jazzy is more than capable in this class
Back Snazzy Jazzy @ 7/2 in the 15:35 Goodwood
Form figures of 111312 when racing on soft or worse ground means that conditions have come right for Snazzy Jazzy. Clive Cox's five-year-old has been running well at a similar level to this so far this season on good to soft ground. Winner of Ayr Silver Cup and a Group 3 at Maisons-Laffitte in 2018 as well as a listed race at Salisbury last season, I think he is more than capable of this Group 3 contest.
If Snazzy Jazzy is to succeed here then he will have to get the better of Charlie Appleby's D'bai, some will say he was very unfortunate when he finished sixth here last time out in the Group 2 Lennox Stakes, but these things happen at Goodwood. Granted this will be much easier for him as he drops in class but the six-year-old has had plenty of chances and I'm not so sure on this ground he is better than Snazzy Jazzy.
It's time for Chairmanoftheboard to show his power and strike again
Back Chairmanoftheboard @ 10/3 in the 14:25 Goodwood
There is no doubt that this is going to be the deepest ground that Chairmanoftheboard has run on so far but he coped well with soft ground on his debut when he run out a handsome winner against my selection in the Celebration Mile yesterday (Sir Busker) at this track. Anyone who read my piece yesterday will know how keen I was on Sir Busker at this track, I am just as confident that Mick Channon's four-year-old gelding, who was a close fifth last time out in the Stewards Cup, will go well at a track that clearly suits him well and from an unchanged mark. I think he has every chance of getting his head back in front.
Another that always runs well at Goodwood, could be his biggest threat, and that is Thomas Greatrex's Atalanta's Boy. The five-year-old has won on two of his three visits to the track and his other run in the Stewards Cup is completely excusable (he completely blew the start). I think he is still on the upgrade, but I also think that drawn the widest of the eight runners doesn't do him any favours. I am sure he will be there or thereabouts at the business end of the race but not quite good enough to beat Chairmanoftheboard.
