Leg #1 - 13:55, Ascot: West Hill Verde to Finish Top ? @ 8/131.61 (NON RUNNER)
West Hill Verde has shown promise in all five hurdle outings, indicating that he has a bright future. The six-year-old notably ran a career best when finishing an excellent third in a Kelso Grade 2 event last time. A reproduction of that fine run ought to be good enough to land this weaker prize. I'm taking him to at least place.
Leg #2 - 14:20, Doncaster: Firewalker to Finish Top 3 @ 4/71.57
Firewalker caught my eye on his sole start, finishing second on debut at Southwell. Extremely well supported in the market, the Kingman colt wasn't able to justify the confidence, but he finished behind a horse who is now rated 96. He has considerable scope to improve, and is bred for success as a son of a multiple Group1 winner.
Leg #3 - 14:30, Ascot: Noahsgreatrainbow to Finish Top 2 @ 8/151.53
Noahsgreatrainbow has been found a winnable race, for a trainer who arrives in good form. I feel the son of Milan is a well-handicapped horse from a chase mark of 119. He scored easily on chase debut at Wincanton ahead of a subsequent dual scorer. Second behind a next-time-out winner at Doncaster cemented my opinion that he is ahead of the assessor, and he has scope for improvement over fences after just three attempts.
Leg #4 - 17:25, Ascot: Glynn Brae to Finish Top 3 @ 4/51.80
Glynn Brae may be ready to strike from just a pound higher handicap hurdle mark than when winning at Sandown four starts ago. That success came over 2m4f where the Califet gelding clearly appreciated the rise in distance. His subsequent three runs have been moderate, dropped in journey, but a keeping-on fouth at Chepstow last time showed that he is in form. The step up in trip is only going to assist him, and he has a promising conditional rider who takes off a handy 5lb.
