Friday Racing Tips: Alan Dudman has two Cork fancies including a 10/1 shot

Cork's two main races on Friday includes the 18:35 Nfp Irish EBF Platinum Stakes Listed 7f race with three contenders holding triple-figure ratings.

Johnny Murtagh's Sindagan is one of the younger ones and as a three-year-old has that weight swing, but he's progressive and arrives in form.

Murtagh has also stuck rigidly to 7f with the horse and he gained his first victory of the season in a Galway Maiden when last seen.

He was turned over as market leader twice at the start of the season in March and April, both soft ground races at Gowran and Naas and a break for quicker ground looked to have suited him well at Fairyhouse in July before winning comfortably at Ballybritt.

The bare form of Galway rated around the 77-rated runner-up is nothing special, but he won quite easily and also had to evade the loose horse in front. And winning at Galway can be tricky, so it was all the more merit to Sindagan at the end as he clocked the only final furlong under 13 seconds.

The better ground I am hoping could be key and now up and running in terms of the win, looks well worth a shot of making a mark in a Listed race against his elders and the 10/111.00 price brings into play us going each-way.

Cork - 19:10: Back Bosphorus Rose @ 11/43.75

Sticking in Mallow, Paddy Twomey's mare Bosphorus Rose can enhance her excellent wins-to-runs ratio with a good performance in the Group 3 feature over 1m4f.

She routed a field in the Listed Lenebane Stakes at Roscommon last time, on ground Timeform rated good to soft.

Her performance lit up Roscommon that evening with a dazzling four-lengths victory and a win that always looked likely.

A steady pace of 110% in the race wasn't enough to stop her and the way the acceleration was instant with the pick up under Billy Lee in the final couple of furlongs was most pleasing to the eye.

She has had a feel of the Cork track already this season with a third in the Munster Oaks - again a steadily-run race off 111%, but the form with Sparan Nua winning and Nyra in second looks strong, as Nyra has a bit more pace and Sparan Nua's form has been well advertised subsequently.

As a daughter of Golden Horn, she could prove even better in a truly run 1m4f race, and the sire in the UK over 1m4f from nearly 300 runners has a 37% placed record at the trip.

Yesterday when first looking at the race I had an idea of around 2/13.00 and 5/23.50, so priced at 11/43.75 I can see the value being her now, although I do expect a bit movement in that price.

Newmarket - 19:37: Back Sterling Knight EW three places @ 16/117.00

Back on terra firma in the UK and while the Yarmouth card barely had a pulse when I looked at the races (two Classified Stakes and a two-runner novice) there is at least something to look forward at Newmarket.

Craig David is in town too after racing, and the Kaiser Chiefs next week. Ambassador - you are spoiling us. Although at nearly 50 sheets in the Grandstand, it appears the Ambassador is the only one likely to afford a ticket.

Sterling Knight likes a bit of Newmarket action, like Craig David, and has raced around the July and Rowley Mile courses 14 times.

A winner in May at the latter venue, he scooted away winning with a lot in hand despite the mess of a contest with the field split into virtually three groups despite the stalls being on the near rail.

Ridden patiently out the back that afternoon, he weaved through easily with a perfectly timed challenge off a near perfect finishing speed to the race overall, and indeed hitting the quickest final furlong in the field.

This is the set-up he wants, ergo a good pace on quick ground over 1m and he has all of those factors on Friday. Pace is likely to come from God Of War, most likey of all Brocklesby Bill, and Zaranthos.

He does look massively overpriced at 16/117.00 and with the 10 runners and three places at a track he likes, he is the each-way play on the Newmarket card.

We've also got young Toby Moore claiming 7lb, and a drop back into a Class 3 after his effort when seventh in the Summer Cup at Thirsk.

Young Moore doesn't know what he has missed with Craig David and the Kaiser Chiefs.
