Nick Shiambouros returns to the tipping chair with two selections from the NH bumper meeting at Southwell...
"I think he can make the most of his bumper experience on the all-weather and is attractively priced at 4.67/2 on the exchange"
15:20 Southwell - Spectator
Spectator should go close in this interesting contest.
This gelding comes in to this race with some decent form over hurdles. He won a Musselburgh handicap hurdle in good style in January, and was fourth in a similar event at Uttoxeter last month. In his younger days he was a pretty decent handicapper on the level, and was rated as high as 87. Hopefully he can handle the transition to Fibresand, and will have every assistance from the saddle with Richard Johnson booked. At present he is trading at 3.55 on the exchange which is just about right.
Man Look is the second choice at 3.7511/4. He has run creditably in hurdles this year and has a similar profile to the selection. The stable is having a lean spell at present which concerns me.
16:25 Southwell - Blazon
Blazon is taken to upset the short priced favourite in this five runner affair.
This five-year-old brings some decent bumper form to the table. He won a bumper on the Polytrack at Lingfield on debut in 2016, and was narrowly beaten on his next start under a penalty at Huntingdon last year. His hurdles form to date is only moderate, but did finish second in a novices' hurdle at Stratford last November. I think he can make the most of his bumper experience on the all-weather and is attractively priced at 4.67/2 on the exchange.
Fin And Game is the odds-on favourite at 1.584/7. This progressive individual is unbeaten in two starts over hurdles and it is no surprise to see him trading so short. He only has moderate form in bumpers and has no all-weather experience. I can afford to let him win at that price.
