French Minstrel - 16:05 Lingfield
French Minstrel has turned a corner since being fitted with a visor, showing improved form to open his account over course and distance in February and following up at Kempton last month. He beat a subsequent winner on that occasion, and travelled with a bit more verve, so there could be even more to come from him at this level. He is fancied to complete a hat-trick.
Ephemeral was strong in the market on her debut for this yard at Wolverhampton last month from what looked a lenient mark and, though she was disappointing in the end, it could be that she just needed the run on her first start for eight months. She represents a yard that are proving very shrewd and she is well worth another chance to prove herself well handicapped with Oisin Murphy retaining the ride.
Lilkian provided Darryll Holland with a winner from his first runner as a trainer at Kempton 12 days ago and he could be capable of following up. He was well positioned as the race went, getting first run on his rivals at a crucial point, and was always holding on inside the final furlong despite being closed down. He has been competitive from higher marks in the past and could have more to offer for this yard.
