Easterby veteran to start the ball rolling
17:35 Haydock - Back Dance King
A very nice winner yesterday with Ebro River, but once again this week we have been foiled with the shorter price runner losing, thus missing out on a nice double.
On with Friday night's action and the old warrior Dance King surely must have a good chance with his favourite soft conditions.
The opener is an amateur jockeys' race and Emily Easterby is on board for her father - a regular combo in these sorts of races. In fact, he won similar affair last summer at Ripon and travelled all over the field on that occasion.
He's still very well in on his old form and expect him to come from off the pace with his usual hold-up tactics. He heads the betting at 7/2 on the Sportsbook.
Eyecatcher Oaks can trouble short price fav
18:10 Haydock - Back Thousand Oaks
The presence of Pam Sly's bumper horse Eileendover makes for compelling viewing tonight at Haydock and she'll be favourite given her ability shown and testing conditions.
However, the big eyecatcher on debut Thousand Oaks looks a ready-made winner following a good debut at Kempton.
That looked a warm race with plenty of well-bred types in it, and the fact she made her debut over 1m4f suggests she is all out stamina. She certainly stayed on in that fashion coming from the back.
It's more the value call over the favourite who could go odds-on.
