Daily Racing Multiple: Can the Shark round off an each-way double at Uttoxeter?

Alan is hoping to strike it lucky with a young chaser Hewick in the feature race on Saturday

"He's a good ground horse, and the 14 degrees predicted the day should dry out the surface enough for Hewick, and he can be backed at 10/1."

Alan picked out Banbridge at 12/1 to win yesterday, but his double bid failed as Top Bandit ran poorly. His Saturday 76/1 each-way double comes from Uttoxeter...

Believe in Lie for a big win up in distance

Back No Word Of A Lie @ 6/1 in the 13:50 at Uttoxeter

Banbridge was a 12/1 winner yesterday, but the fears about some of Gordon Elliott's handicappers ran true, as Top Bandit was a disappointment to blow our chance of a decent double. Two winners at double-figure prices on the week at Cheltenham, unfortunately not on the same day. I did like the staying power of Banbridge though, and the Martin Pipe throws up horses of Grade 1 potential.

On to Saturday, we'll play the Extra Place Special angle again with two of the selections, and both with Sedgefield form.

No Word Of A Lie has posted two very solid handicap runs over hurdles and bumped into a progressive rival at Wetherby last time in Findthetime. He ran off 125 there and remains off the same mark today for that 6L loss.

His win at Sedgefield just before Christmas was the performance that impressed me. Always up with the pace, he gave a strong indication he'll get the 3m well this afternoon, especially if the ground dries up. This will be his first attempt at the trip, but he has a pair of three milers in his pedigree including Lieutenant Colonel, and his dam acted on a fast surface.

Shark going for deeper waters with progressive rookie

Back Hewick @ 10/1 in the 15:35 at Uttoxeter

The Midlands National holds its place in the aftermath of the Cheltenham Festival, and such is the depth in this year's race, it wouldn't look out of place at any of the top tracks. With admirable, and tough as teak Yala Enki in off top weight from 159 and two previous winners, it's by miles the best betting race of the day.

Shark Hanlon sends over the lightly-raced Hewick, and while he will have to take his form to a new, elevated level for this, we are nowhere near the bottom of this rookie and he can run a big race with the weather forecast coming just right.

He's a good ground horse, and the 14 degrees predicted for the day should dry out the surface enough for Hewick, and he can be backed at 10/1.

His performance in the Durham National at Sedgefield last time took me by complete surprise. He had plenty of weight to carry, but the way he picked off the leaders with ease was impressive to win by 6L. His jumping wasn't totally fluent, but his stamina at the 3m5f trip was the key, as the further this horse has gone up in distance, the better he has looked.

Up by 8lb to 150, that is some rating for a five-time racer over fences. The 4m2f for Saturday could unlock more improvement and I really like his chance.
