Lulworth Cove built on previous promise when opening his account at the third attempt over six furlongs at Wolverhampton.
She bumped into one who has won several times since on her return at Haydock and easily went one place better at Lingfield on her next start, belying market weakness but looking a long way ahead of her mark.
Lulworth Cove hasn't progressed as expected since back on turf, but she shaped better than the bare result dropped to five furlongs at Windsor a fortnight ago, given too much to do and meeting trouble.
She can boast an unbeaten record on all-weather and looks very interesting now just 3 lb higher than for her Lingfield success.
Chelmsford Next Best - 14:25 - Back Emperor's Star
Emperor's Star is bred to be smart - first foal out of a half-sister to top-class Cloth of Stars - and he shaped with plenty of encouragement when runner-up to a useful sort on debut at Newmarket.
He started odds-on for his latest start on the back of that effort, but possibly found that run coming too soon and/or the heavy ground not suiting him. Either way he is well worth another chance to confirm the promise of his debut in what looks a very winnable race.
