Time to push the Button
Race 6 20:36 Belmont Park - Hot Button
Hot Button will appreciate the drop-in class in this $40k maiden claimer on the turf.
This filly caught the eye on debut when finishing second in a $75k maiden claimer at Saratoga last month. She held every chance in the straight but came up short in the closing stages. This was a promising effort and trainer Brad Cox boasts an impressive 26% strike rate with second time starters. Cox is a master at placing horses and is having a great year. This appears to be the perfect spot for her and should be backed at her Morning Line price of 4.57/2.
Firenze Fire to torch rivals
Race 9 22:14 Belmont Park - Firenze Fire
Firenze Fire can get back to winning ways in this mouthwatering Grade 2 on the main track.
This smart performer finished down the field in the Grade 1 Forego at Saratoga last month. He chased the leaders in the driving rain, but weakened out of contention in the straight. The return to six furlongs will suit, and is a four-time winner over this course.
He is one of the most consistent sprinters in the country and has been working brilliantly ahead of this assignment. I have backed him at his current price of 5.24/1 on the exchange.
