What is a Premier Raceday?
Premier Racedays are designed to showcase the best of British racing with the overall objective of driving engagement in the sport in a multitude of ways.
Premier Racedays incorporate all of racing's marquee events including the Cheltenham Festival, The Grand National, The Derby and Royal Ascot. Indeed, all of the sport's major festivals will be under the bracket of a Premier Raceday.
On the flip side racing's weekly feature fixtures will not be forgotten, continuing to offer the best quality racing and highest prize money.
The innovative scheme started in January and will run throughout both the jumps and flat season, offering top quality racing from a number of different tracks.
These days will be the 'shop window' for the sport, promoting racing to new and occasional customers with 170 Premier Racedays throughout the calendar year.
The sport will make some fixture list changes that will focus on using headline events to grow interest in the sport, making more use of Sundays and improving the competitiveness of racing.
All Premier Racedays will be broadcasted to the general public on ITV and the change will allow more time for big races to breathe.
The BHA/GBR focused plan is for British racing to move away from poorly sized fields and clashes when it comes to race times to allow the headline races throughout the week to standout.
