Ground coming right for Silver In Disguise

Back Silver In Disguise @ 9/2 in the 15:15 at Wetherby

Tyre Kicker was a gutsy winner for yesterday's column as a win single, but we couldn't quite get the second one over the line, and her jumping went to pieces.

Monday's racing looks good to previous Mondays, and I like Silver In Disguise's chances in the marathon test over fences at Wetherby this afternoon at 15:15.

He landed a good prize for a 0-120 last term at Chepstow and won with plenty in hand that day over 3m7f in March, and spring could be the time for him as he enjoys decent ground - and he should get that at Wetherby today despite one or two showers forecast.

His Chepstow success was by nearly 4L and he relished the marathon distance. I don't have too many fears over a less demanding track and he will be held up I am sure by jockey Alan Johns - who is on the hot list at the moment as a form jockey with 5-27 at 18% and a very decent profit.

Silver In Disguise ran his best race of the season last time out at Chepstow - but that was over half a mile shorter on soft ground.

A sterner test allied with quick-ish conditions will play to his strengths and he's one of the younger ones in the line-up. Hopefully he can score at 9/2 as he was backed from 11/2 this morning on the Sportsbook.

Well bred Heathen interesting Wolves runner

Back Heathen @ 9/4 in the 19:30 at Wolverhampton

Few on the Wolverhampton card tonight would have a lofty pedigree such as Heathen - a horse who once went through the ring as a yearling at 200,000.

Rated 74 now, and still lightly-raced, he is with the right team of owners that consistently buy well to get improvement out of these older horses, and he scored in emphatic fashion last time out at Newcastle.

The race finish speed of 106% showed him in a good light as he produced three sub-13 second sectionals including one at 12.08.

5/2

The step up to Newcastle's 1m4f extended worked a treat in keeping with his lofty pedigree, and while the pace wasn't searching, he overcame that with ease in the first-time hood to make him a worthy contender to win a couple more of these middle-distance All-Weather handicaps.

The fact he was able to produce a quick burst at Newcastle puts him in good shape for a speedier track this evening, and Oisin Murphy on for a good draw in three is hardly negative.
