Horse Racing Tips: Gosden and Easterby to make a Chester impact

Chester 14:35: Back Vince L'Amour

The perils of the draw at Chester hovers around the track much like the old ghost that is said to haunt the viaduct start, but we take any draw problem on the chin and Vince L'Amour can hopefully overcome a tricky perch in seven for the 14:35.

He's a bang in form horse for Tim Easterby and absolutely bolted up at Ripon on the rail in April by over 5L off 66 and followed up under a penalty at Catterick soon after with another fairly comfortable success.

Both wins came on soft ground (heavy at Ripon), and while it's unlikely to be as wet today, he's in such good form I don't want to leave him out at 5/16.00.

He can make the running and saw out the 6f just as well at Ripon and off 80 can take another step up.

Chester - 16:10: Back Chortal

The presence of an Aidan O'Brien horse with three runs and experience means we could get a price on the John Gosden newcomer Chortal, and at 5/16.00 I am taking a chance on the newcomer. We could get a decent BSP too here.

Gallantly for Ballydoyle finished second at Leopardstown over 1m recently and has race-fitness on his side, but he's been beaten as a favourite three times and twice at odds-on. He should suit the new distance today of 1m2f, but his price doesn't do anything for me.

Chortal should have no issues at all with the 1m2f and should get further as he's a son of Golden Horn and the dam of the selection Golden Laughter has got a couple of winners - one for Gosden at 1m2f.

The trainer is 21% win and 54% placed at Chester with his three-year-olds and he hinted in an interview last week that his horses will be coming to hand in May after a wet spring.
