Gordon chaser can find his best feet at Kempton
Paul Nicholls Superboost
If you fancy Paul's Panjari to run well in the 15:00 at Kempton today then you can back the horse to finish in the top three at the super-boosted price of 1/12.00 (from 4/71.57).
Newcastle - 14:08: Back Gold Clermont
Four and a quarter miles in the mud at a stiff northern track is my sort of race, and it wouldn't be a Saturday without tackling the Eider Chase at Newcastle.
Gold Clermont is doing ever so well for trainer Andy Irvine, and while she has plenty to find in terms of her rating compared to the top weight, she's been a revelation staying for the small yard.
Her Fakenham win just before Christmas came over 3m4f, and while it is easy to crab Fakenham form, she did win by 14L.
A disappointing effort at Plumpton in the Sussex National soon followed but she bounced right back to her best to Fontwell over 3m4f last time with an easy 8L victory from 110.
She handles testing ground and goes up in trip, and while the extra yardage presents another question mark, she is improving and stays.
Off such a low weight too, it has to be a major factor for such a brutal test, and she's getting nigh on two stone from the top weight rated 140.
A drift on the Sportsbook too this morning from 6/17.00 out to 8/19.00 puts her into each-way territory too and she could drift again.
Kempton - 15:37: Back Lord Baddesley
Trainer Chris Gordon hasn't quite had the season I was expecting, nor was he, and it is surprising he's had only 17 winners this term.
However, that does mean with a few of his horses performing below par this term that handicap marks come down and Lord Baddesley is a horse who has always had plenty of ability, but for one reason or another, he hasn't got the win record his talent deserves.
He was rated in the 130s over hurdles, so he's off a good mark today in terms of his chase rating, and he showed far more on his latest outing at Newbury over 2m7f.
A defeat to the progressive Inch House was a fine effort considering the winner was more forwardly ridden last time, but Lord Baddesley went through the race with a lot more spark.
The way he came into contention, I give him a shot here up to 3m to stay and he shaped like a stayer, or one that will get 3m on a run last spring at Plumpton.
Perhaps he might prefer better ground, but Kempton is not known for extreme soft and he might get away with it, although he has acted on soft.
