Newcastle - 16:25: Back Bonito Cavalo
Genial Jim Goldie has a big chance to get on the scoresheet with Bonito Cavalo and his Classified victory last time out keeps him onside going back into a handicap for this afternoon.
It's neither here nor there with the marks at this lowly grade into a 0-55 but he did win with a bit in hand last time and the time was reasonable - and quicker of the two that day.
With his All-Weather pedigree, it was surprising that Goldie waited so long to run him on the synthetics, especially rated in the 50s and high 48s as there are several opportunities daily.
He steps up to 7f tonight but it shouldn't be an issue from 6f last time, and he has proved that he gets 7f in the past. Plus his pace could be critical as lately at Newcastle they seem to be crawling then sprinting in many of the races.
Newcastle - 17:30: Back Wee Fat Mac
Iain Jardine's horses have been in quite good form of late, and his Wee Fat Mac was a drifter this morning from a pretty short 6/42.50 to 11/43.75, and that makes him more of a bet in the 17:30.
He has an excellent record on the All-Weather with five wins from 16 starts and four of those have been at Newcastle. Indeed, one of those over CD just before Christmas he won easily and quickened up smartly in the style of a horse with more to offer from his mark.
Last time at Southwell he finished in fourth and wasn't beaten far, but that was over 6f and was wide, back to 5f and his ability to see out a little further in distance makes him a decent bet.
