Salisbury and Beverley for Thursday double
Beverley - 16:30 - Back Temper Trap
Tim Easterby's Temper Trap is thriving at the moment, and the 9/43.25 fav has an excellent chance at Beverley to complete his four-timer this afternoon.
He was in winning form again just nine days ago in soft going at Ripon with a victory with a ton in hand under a penalty.
Previously he had scored at Hamilton and Doncaster and landed a big gamble on Town Moor in the Racing League when he bolted up there too by 3L.
The 6yo is up only 1lb to 65 today, and surely in the form he's in, it won't be enough to stop him.
Soft conditions are clearly his forte but he does hold winning form on good to firm, and while he was beaten in this race 12 months ago in second from a 5lb lower mark, he's in the form of his life at the moment.
Salisbury - 17:10 - Back Mantoog
I sided with Owen Burrows yesterday with the attractive looking Moyassr on debut, and while he ran well and will no doubt win a race, we were left slightly short with his third (and Poutchek's second), but I am with Burrows again for Mantoog on handicap debut today.
She showed a good level of ability on her first two starts at Kempton and over CD in May, but was well beaten at Chelmsford last time on her third start.
The 3yo had a horrendous draw in 15 for the above-average Novice at the Essex track and looked outpaced when they started to up the tempo moving into the straight. She didn't look particularly easy either down the straight and was slightly hanging in as she finished nearly 8L down.
The positive from her first two runs outweighs that effort though, and her CD second looked a fine effort, plus the race has thrown up three winners, including Truthful who scored that day, and has gone in again since.
Her mark looks reasonable on 77, and with good ground at 1m2f again at the track, she can take advantage of her mark as she certainly is one on the card with potential handicapping.
