In what appears an extremely moderate maiden for Leopardstown standards, I'm hopeful that the twice-raced Goomah will at least reach the placings. The daughter of Sioux Nation has shown hints of ability in both career outings, which have also been slightly troubled passages. She has an experience edge over a few of these and can put that to good use here.
Despite novicey jumping on hurdle bow at Gowran Park, I'm confident the Paddy Twomey-trained Listed placer on the flat, Arouet (rated 101 in that sphere) can improve heaps into this second outing over hurdles. His flat speed ought to have him travel sweetly here, and just a small improvement in that jumping technique may be enough for him to land the spoils.
Puerto Rico brings plenty of experience to the race, having won three times from eight starts, with back-to-back Group One successes in France to end last year's juvenile campaign. He made all in both of those runs and certainly appeals as one to take another step up this year. The fact we know he stays a mile bodes well here as he holds solid credentials and should be hard to beat if allowed to dictate matters from the front.
Slack Alice has somewhat of an unexposed profile over staying distances, which I'm hoping can lead her into at least a placing, now raised to this trip. Her keeping-on third at this venue last time was a career-best, and I believe she can find further improvement with Sean Bowen in the saddle this afternoon (from the same handicap mark).
