A well-backed favourite very strong at Beverley
Windsor - 19:50 - Back Sassy Belle
This morning the ground at Windsor was reading good, but with a wet day again in store it looks unlikely that the status quo with the terrain will remain and soft conditions will almost certainly suit Sassy Belle.
She showed a liking for good to soft at Pontefract last term but was even better at Leicester when taking her novice in first time blinkers when the ground was heavy. So more rain the better for tonight.
From two runs this term, her best effort was on the straight 7f at Newbury last time with a third, and ran well to maintain her position considering she was up with the pace and the time was quicker than the second division of that 0-80.
The 3yo is a solid performer and from 78, just sneaks into this grade with the ceiling being 0-78.
Tom Marquand rides, and he's one of the better jockeys around Windsor from the front - which seems more than likely with her dropping down from Newbury's 7f to a sharper 6f around Windsor. Indeed, Marquand and Walker together have an 18% win record at the track and she'll also present a good opportunity to trade back with a lay.
She runs in the yellow and blue of owner Laurence Bellman, a fellow West Ham fan.
Beverley - 20:30 - Back Arkenstaar
Michael Dods should have a winner in the closer at Beverley at 20:30 if the betting is anything to go by, with his Arkenstaar backed from 5/23.50 into 13/82.63 this morning. Although the 13/82.63 didn't last long with the horse going into 6/52.20.
Dods' 3yo has been running well this term with two wins and three placings and seems pretty adaptable regarding ground conditions with form on quick and soft, although the heavy tonight on the Westwood will be the most testing he's faced.
Haydock's flat track was likely too much of a sharper test for him last time in race where he met trouble in running, and the stiffer 1m2f at Beverley will certainly suit.
He stays strongly, as both of his victories at Hamilton earlier in the season saw him pull out more in the finish.
From 68 and one of the 3yos in the race, he gets weight here and is a huge player.
