Cartmel race again on Monday in the sweltering conditions

"His form has really connected of late since joining Micky Hammond and scored by 17L at Hexham over the 3m with a fine jumping round, and Hexham's fences can take a bit of jumping."

It's another trip to Cartmel for Alan Dudman on Monday who is in search of a 17/1 winning Sportsbook double...

Idilico down to a winnable mark

Some reasonably competitive racing at Cartmel once again on Monday, and considering the wilting conditions, the 2m6f Handicap Hurdle at 13:00 has a good turnout.

Idilico appeals a fair bit considering his rather unlucky third at Kelso at the thick end of last season, which was a Class 2 race and a series final.

He met trouble very early on when hampered by a faller in front of him, and his chances were gone. But he picked up from a mile away and finished off well off a mark of 100.

Once again he was third recently behind Dan Gun (who opposes today again) following a break of 65 days and rather unluckily hampered again early in the race.

He was rated far higher in his peak days and down another 2lb gives him a chance.

Larry and Smith-Chaston can maintain their 100% record together

We saw how well Hexham form travels to Cartmel at the weekend with Johnson's Blue winning the Cumbria Crystal Cup, and that staying ability for a front runner certainly lends itself to an expected victory for the in-form Larry Looby.

He isn't the favourite despite being on a roll with back-to-back wins, but it's no surprise that Sean Bowen's Game Line is the market leader, as Bowen is riding like a man possessed these days.

Looby is the only CD winner in the field and his form has really connected of late since joining Micky Hammond and scored by 17L at Hexham over the 3m with a fine jumping round, and Hexham's fences can take a bit of jumping.

That was 0-100 grade and he's stepping up in class against Game Line who is an out-and-out stayer with bags of stamina. It's an intriguing match-up while in-form Ben Haslam also has Canello in the race, but Emma Smith-Chaston is 2-2 on the horse and has a good opportunity to tactically dictate on ground that suits.
