Let's Avit is overpriced at Ballinrobe
Let's Avit was well beaten on hurdling debut and finished behind two of today's rivals but I think he could be capable of much better than he showed that day and has a better chance than his big price suggests.
On his debut at Killarney, he was one of only two horses in the field that had no previous experience on the flat or over hurdles and that showed as he was very green. He lunged at the first and made a big mistake which almost saw him lose his rider. He raced in midfield after that and was hesitant at the next four hurdles before making another slight mistake at the first hurdle on the final circuit. He was briefly shaken along to maintain his position and was better at the last in the back but he was struggling to go with the leaders after that and after more poor jumping in the home straight, he finished eighth.
Given the degree of inexperience that he showed, it's possible that there could be plenty of improvement to come from Let's Avit today and it wouldn't be a complete shock if he was able to be competitive given the quality of this race. Those that have run over hurdles hardly set an insurmountable standard and none of those with flat experience making their hurdling debut have run to a particularly high level in that sphere nor look obvious improvers for the switch to hurdling.
It may be that Let's Avit is still green and his true ability will come out further down the line, possibly on a more galloping track too, but I think he could fare better than his price suggests and any 25/126.00 or bigger appeals.
